Red bumps on my legs that turn into open sores?

For a couple of weeks, I'd have a small red bump or two on my upper leg. The bump would be small and itch a lot. Eventually, the bump opens into a sore. I haven't been too concerned about it, but now I have 15 plus bumps around one knee and 3 open sores. Can anyone tell me what this is? I plan on going to a dermatologist soon but I'd like to see if I could at least figure out what's going on. I have been putting Neosporin on the sores and bumps and covering them, but it doesn't seem to be helping.

Update:

It's definitely not razor burn. I haven't shaved in a while because I'm afraid of irritating it further. I do not scratch them open.

Update 2:

Are you scratching them open? Could it be a razor burn? Consider those two questions. If it's neither of those, go see a doctor.
