1st poem since he died, what do you think?

The Ring

You wore it on your left hand from the moment I gave it to you

at the altar that rainy morning in September. " I'll never take it

off you whispered", and there it remained for the next 50 years.

Throughout the years, thru good times and bad the ring never

never left your finger. It was a strong signal of your commitment

to me first as a husband, then a father who took his promise

and lived it faithfully.

Now feeling sad that you will no longer reach out for my hand,

or gently rub my neck, or ease the pain of missing you, I slowly

remove the ring from your cold finger remembering your last and

final goodbye.

That ring meant more to you than anything else in the world because

it meant your undying love for us all. You held the kids and I tight to

your chest. You were so full of love for us, you never wavered, not

even when we pressed you to your limits.

Fly free my love, for you have earned your place in the Heavens

above. Fly free knowing that we will eternally miss your smiling face.

Fly free knowing that you have done what you came here to do and

you did it well. Rest in peace and fly free.

The poem is so sweet, so vulnerable. Thank you for sharing your innermost love for your husband with us. My compassion goes to you for your loss and yet there is such a loving testimony to your life. So many married people haven't got a clue. I am happy you and your husband discovered each other and lived the life you did.
