Could the events described in the sixth seal of Revelation be describing a comet entering our solar system?

Question

If a comet entered our solar system on a trajectory between the earth and the sun, it could easily account for the world-wide shift of all tectonic plates & accompanying earthquake as well as the solar eclipse described in verse 12. The debris from the comet's tail entering our atmosphere would cause the moon to appear red, and account for the asteroid shower ("stars" is the greek word "asteros", or asteroids).   

The 'heavens departing as a scroll' describes the effect of the moisture laden tail of the comet completely wiping out all cloud-cover.

And people everywhere would seek shelter in underground bunkers, tunnels & even sewers rather than get pelted by the asteroid shower.

 12And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

 13And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

 14And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

 15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

 16And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

 17For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

You really havnt got to grips with this science business yet have you? We dont need a comet to account for movement of tectonic plates. Asteroids are remnants of a dead planet or other body between Mars and Jupiter (some of which get knocked out of orbit ocassionaly) and a comet could not enter the solar system between eath and the sun. Orbital physics makes that a bit tricky.

Um...comets don't "enter" our solar system -- they're always in our solar system.  Always.
The Oort cloud, where most comets originate, is a lot further from the sun than we are, but it's well within the heliopause (the edge of our solar system).

Revelation is about Nero's Rome, which was persecuting christians -- and was written as an "Ooh, they're gonna get it!" tome to appease christians at the time that were being persecuted.  It doesn't predict any future events, and it certainly contains nothing that can be correlated with scientific facts.

A  meteor or comet  hitting the Middle East means that Anubis, Eris, Thor, Freyja, Ganesha and the gods and goddesses of the Buddhists,  Hindus and Pagans are real.  Let it be known that the Abrahamic gods are false gods, and let this warning not fall on deaf ears.

The book of Daniel reveals that everything that has happened in the physical world has already happened in the spiritual world. Revelation will happen literally (Revelation 9:2-3; 20:13-14).

It could be as you say, but only God/Jesus knows for sure. But when it happens we will see the truth of it in the word of God, the bible. Right?

Only God can reveal the meaning of his word, the bible. So if we want to know the truth we must ask God to show us meanings and give us understanding or we just guess. Before we start reading the bible ask God for knowledge and understanding, then we can know and understand it as God gives it to us.
If I wanted to know something written is Martian, I would go to someone that speaks Martian and ask them what it means so that I may understand what it says. Or I could look at it, not understanding, then say it means this or that: not knowing Martian, I could try to make it mean whatever i wanted, though this would not be the right interpretation. 
Many do this with the bible, it is God's word and only God can tell us the meaning of things and give us understanding too. Or we just guess or make something up. So go to God and ask him directly for the truth of his word.  And God can do this through any bible, not just some but all.
