Muslims are recommended to fast six additonal days after Eid day. It is not Fardh but optional Nafil Ibadah.?
Does any one know what is the significance and reward from Allah for fasting these additonal six days in addition to fasting in entire month of Fasting.

Yes, the 6 days are nafil and not obligatory.
if you fast the 6 days of Shawwaal, it is as if you fasted one year, because each good deed gets rewarded from Allah by at least 10, so 1 month of Ramadan equals 10 months and 6 days equal 60 days equal 2 months = 12 months :)
But you have to first make up the missed days od Ramadan, if you have any (!), before you fast the 6 days of Shawwaal.
In sha Allah, I could help you :)
@Pesho: Eid al-fitr is only 1 day, the 1st of Shawwaal. So you can start making up your missed Ramadan fasts on the 2nd of Shawwaal and after making up the missed fasts of Ramadan you can fast the 6 days of Shawwaal.
Forbidden (harram) fasts:
Fasting on Eid al-Fitr (10 September 2010), Eid al-Adha (16 November 2010, tentative) and the days of Ayaam al-Tashreeq, which are the three days following Eid al-Adha, except on Hajj for those who do not have a hadiy (animal for sacrifice).
@Kennethiabel: I am also a revert, 1 year and 4 months :)

@Pesho: - No. You wait til Eid is compeletly over (Eid Al Fitr is for 1 day.. And Eid Al Adha is for 3 days).. You have a month time to fast 6.. Doesn't have to be day after day.

Book 006, Number 2614:
Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwal. it would be as if he fasted perpetually.
