  • Mistakes During Salaat?

First Assalamu Alaikum everyone, I haven't been on here in a while but I have a question and don't know where to find the answer short notice. If you say something to someone (in order to correct then such as if they are perpetrating incorrectly) while they're making their salaat and they reply to you or loose their kushoo then is that your fault? Is this a sin on you. My husband is a new shahada and I just want his prayers to be accepted but he gets so frustrated with me correcting him. Idk what I should do. Am I doing the right thing?

  • A Double Major in Computer Science and Computer Engineering w/ A Minor in Computer Gaming?

A Double Major in Computer Science and Computer Engineering w/ A Minor in Computer Gaming?

Is this too much work or is it feasible? I know a double major is already a lot. Is a double major with a minor next to impossible? I really want to learn coding and the making of codes and computer programs especially, but not solely, as it pertains to gaming (because I like gaming and to make my own mods and hacks would be awesome though I know I'm not necessarily going to make a career of that). Is there anyone here who has majored/minored in any of these disciplines or who has had a double major or double major + a minor?? They all match up pretty well so I'm thinking it won't be too-too many extra courses....PLEASE I NEED ADVICE

  • Ramadan: Should I quit Job Corps?? (NOT REALLY A RELIGIOUS Q BUT OPINIONS STILL PLEASE)?

Okay first of all assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhuh ^_^ Hope you are all doing well and in good health and iman :)

I'm from Cleveland, Oh and I've been a student at the Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center in Grand Rapids, Mi for going on 6 months now. When I decided to come here I was thinking that I was going to be here 6 months and then I would be done. I came with a G.E.D. and I was only getting my trade. I take the nursing assistant class here twice a day (and did I forget to mention it repeats every month?) because I have a diploma already and my math and literacy abilities are already where the need to be. Everything was going good until september when I learned that our only clinicals site (the VA home) was privatizing and do to the cutbacks, lay-offs, hostile environment or whatever we wouldn't be able to go to clinicals when we were supposed to. They told us maybe in October but now here it is the end of October and still no clinicals.

I'm around 60% complete and the only thing holding me back is clinicals. Going to clinicals will bring me up to about 95% and passing my state test will take me up to 100%. They're having a hard time finding alternate sites because of the Job Corps Center's bad rep. I can't even apply to take the state test until after we go to clinicals and then I have to calculate in the wait time for a testing date. I feel like I want to go home. It's hard being so far from my family and living with so many other girls and the staff here is not much older than many of us. I feel like I could go home and take a local NA program (taking around 2-5 weeks) and be finished before the time they'd have a clinical site ready. Insha'Allah I'll be leaving here for Cleveland on 11/11/11 and that'll at least give me some time to think things over and clear my head.

My plan is to get a one-way ticket Idk if I'll come back. Everybody here back home is telling me to stay because I've already invested so much time and I'm over half way done and because I need that $1200 check we get for completing the program. But I feel like I'm spinning my wheels at this place and if I'll stay I would have spent more time here than I had planned and certainly more than necessay..I'm lost.

    ? ? ? Advice Please ? ? ?

  • Praying away from home/masjid? Qilba question?

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh :)

Ok, so I know what direction to pray towards when I'm at home but how do you know what direction to pray towards when you are at school, the mall, etc? Currently I don't make my salah unless I'm at home or at the masjid but I know that's a problem. I'm just confused? Do I buy a qilba compass or is there another way that I can figure it out? Also are the qilba compasses difficult to use? Any hadiths you can provide are also helpful. Jazakum Allahu Khair

  • Making up missed prayers?

    Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh...

Can someone give me information on making up missed prayers? I heard that you can't make up intentionally missed prayers. Can you make them up the next day with extra rakats or is it best just to supplement the prayers with supererogatory prayers?

  • Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing?

First let me say that I am an absolute beginner, I know nothing about sewing, I don't even know how to thread my sewing machine. But I really want to learn to sew this year. I heard that the Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing was the best book. All of the reviews I read about it online were pretty good but one. A woman who was also an absolute novice said that the book was confusing for her and that it made the assumption of basic sewing knowledge. Someone please help! I really want to learn and I can't afford to go to school for it. Tell me is this book right for me? Does anyone have any tips or suggestions that might help the learning process? Thanks in advance ^_^

  • Ramadan: Someone tell me if it is really haram?

Someone tell me if it is really haram to arch or shape your eyebrows? I've heard that it's haram because you are changing your appearance and not accepting the way that Allah swt has created you. So haram or not? Does anyone know? Please give authentic hadith or ayahs

  • Allah swt made us in pairs?

    Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh :)

I heard a couple people say that Allah swt made us in pairs (basically that everyone has a soul mate out there). Have any of you ever heard this? Are there any ayahs or hadiths that would back this up?

  • Fashion design portfolio plz help?!?

There's this college nearby that I really want to get into. I don't have any high school transcripts because I have a GED. My admissions adviser told me that gathering a portfolio might increase my chances of being accepted. I don't have any formal art training but I have the talent enough to sketch out my designs. I don't know how to make a formal portfolio!

What size paper do I use? Should I put them in a binder? A folder? A sketch journal? How many should I draw? How many sketches per page? Should I color them and with what?!

A portfolio is not required so they didn't set specifications. However with no grades to show a portfolio may be my only shot at getting in! I really need help...

Also in case you were curious the college's name is Virgina Marti College of Art & Design (VMCAD)

  • New muslim, questions about Eid Al Adha?

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Okay so I have a pretty good idea about what Eid Al Adha is but how is it celebrated? I know that you are supposed to dress up and wear your best clothes but what else? I have only been muslim for about 4 months so I am still learning a lot. Whatever information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. My mother and I are the only muslims in my family.

  • Is it haram.......???

Is it haram to talk to members of the opposite sex online? Like just talking about life and school and such? There is a brother who I talk to over facebook instant messenger. He lives on the other side of the world so I'm not worried about him being like an internet creep or anything. He seems really nice. But I don't want to sin myself...If age matters we are both in our twenties.
