Look at the job growth from 1993-2000 when the Reagan tax cuts were repealed.

Look at the job growth from 2001-2009.

You should find your answer there.

There is a myth that if you give the wealthiest Americans (Those individuals earning over 500K per year) a tax cut that they will spend more money and create more jobs, or expand businesses and create more jobs.

This is what George H.W. Bush called "Voo-Doo Economics" Because it is all based on something that you have no control, or a theory that is not proven. If they do that it works, but if these people do not do it then what happens is growth stagnates, and the government looses revenue.

They need to make that revenue up from somewhere, so they either pass a tax hike, or the cut programs like Federal Highway funding, or funding medicare and medicaid to the states. Of course they still mandate what the states have to provide, but they don't bother to pay for it, that is why all of these states now are drowning in red ink.

Historically these tax cuts have never produced the jobs that they were supposed too. But then again think of who attends these thousand dollar a plate dinners that they have and you'll understand why no politician wants to really whack the top 2%.

Even the Obama tax hike on the rich would only amount to an extra $8,000.00 a YEAR on a salary of $500,000.00 annually. And that's before a skilled tax accountant figures out a way to lower that net income.

Oh, and there are a lot of wealthy Americans who inherited their wealth, of the wealthiest 80 women in the USA only 8 of them actually earned the money themselves. Of the top 10 wealthiest men, 3 of them earned the money themselves. The inheritance class does not really create jobs, those jobs were created long ago and many of them are long gone now.

Tax cuts have proven to be good for the economy. And if you're going to cut taxes, shouldn't the cuts be according to what each taxpayer is currently paying? The top one percent of earners pay almost 40% of all taxes.

Besides, in a free country letting people keep more of what they have earned is simply the right thing to do. Taxes should be for the sole purpose of funding the legitimate functions of government. They should never be a means of redistributing wealth.

I see no reason for the wealthy to be taxed more or less than the rest of us. Why should some people be taxed less just because they have more money? A blanket rate over EVERYONE would be fine by me.

Why are some people so hell bent against the idea of Tax Cuts for Every Tax Payer.

Why do people want to cut taxes for everybody BUT the wealthy? Aren't they Americans too? Why do you want to punish them? Jealousy? Class warfare?

because the wealthy "create the most jobs and pay the most taxes."

Because a couple earning over $250,000.00 a year isn't really wealthy....especially if you live in expensive parts of the country.

They're trying to fight the progressive taxation structure the US has. I like progressive taxation, so I think the cuts should expire.

I guess the fact that there are 3 clear historical examples that helping the "INVESTING" class actually stimulate the economy and helps EVERYONE.... maybe that has something to do with it....

Targeted and/or temporary tax cuts will not change rational expectations, so they will be ineffective.
