Brake quick release problems?

I ride a hardtail mtb, and recently the quick release for the rear brakes has been disengaging during the pre-ride "drop check." I recently replaced all the cables and housings, and I think I may have cut the brake housing a little too long, and that may be causing this problem.

Any ideas as to what's going on?

Update:

I recently replaced all the cables and housings, and I think I may have cut the brake housing a little too long, and that may be causing this problem. They are linear-pull brakes.

Any ideas as to what's going on?

Update 2:

Bob - I hate to sound egotistical, but I know how to adjust my cables. Mine are perfectly tensioned.

Update 3:

Hippie - I'm lazy. I was just wondering if that was the problem, or something more serious with the actual brake mechanisms, before I started doing anything to it.

the housing is not your problem the point of the housing is not only to protect but is so you can have extra cable length(to go around parts) without having to sacrifice tension. the cable housing can be as long or short as you want....there is ether a problem with the quick release, or my guess the cable is to loose.

Well - if you know how to adjust the cables & the correct length, then do it. Obviously the tension is off. Otherwise the quick release wouldn't disengage so easily. Gee...I hate to sound egotistical.

Your cable is too lose not the housing. Screw the barrel adjuster out and try it again.
