is snopes.com accurate and unbiased?
Seems like I am always getting emails full of wild seemingly improbable charges that Obama or Clinton, or some democrat did something soooo wrong that they should be put in jail. I check snopes and find out that its not true etc. Oddly enough, these all come from very old conservative people who should know better. I could understand high school kids sending this crap ....but old people?

I hear ya, I get them from my sister in law who is in her 50's, then I have to go to snopes, check it out and send her the link. Snopes is very accurate and reliable. According to wikipedia, it was started in 1995 and they have been debunking internet rumors ever since. There is another one call "Truth or fiction" I have gone to that one too, but usually go to snopes.

Nothing that is run by human beings is ever going to be unbiased. That's just the unfortunate truth. Accuracy is possible, however, because facts can't be argued... well, nor can opinions.. but facts are facts regardless of what people opine about them. Snopes? I don't know. There was a time when they were the supplier of urban legends... now they seem to be the extinguisher of urban legends. Personally, I prefer to do a little research over just looking at one website for answers. I'd rather have no opinion for several days running than to have a knee-jerk reaction based on one single website.
