Am I doing well for skating 7 months?
I have been skating for roughly 7 and a half months. I skate twice a week (3 times if I'm lucky, as the rink is 1.5 hours away from where I live), about 3 hours in total. I have been taking one half-hour group lesson a week for 6 months, and one private lesson a week for almost two months. I am in australian freeskate 4 (not sure what this is in america) but I can also do things higher than my level.
I have my: waltz jump, salchow, toe loop, loop, flip, lutz and most combinations, just started learning AXEL, two foot spin, one foot spin, crossfoot/scratch spin, sit spin, camel spin (it really sucks though!), catchfoot spin, spirals (both ways and edges), crossovers, mohawks, 3-turns, etc. I know I'm no Johnny Weir, lol, but do you think I'm doing at least okay for how long I've been skating?
I had never ice skated before late March this year. I was okay at rollerblading though..
By the way, here's a video of me skating: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fA61OCY2FJ4 I know I suck :\

You're doing fine. What do you expect us to say - that actually you ARE the next Johnny Weir?
And this sort of question does make you sound really arrogant and self-centred. How do you think the people who've been skating 7 months and are still a bit nervous of trying to go backwards would feel when you're saying "I suck" and you're working on axels?
Strongly tempted to just post an answer saying "yes, you're right, you suck".

Oh my gosh! You've only been skating for 7 months? I only started at the end of March and now I'm working on a back spin and a toe loop, and I thought I'd gotten far in that amount of time! There is a girl who goes skating on some of the same days as me, she's had lessons for four years, but she doesn't work on an axels yet. Since you are working on them after SEVEN MONTHS, I don't think you need to worry about anything!
Good luck on that competition on Sunday!!

Yes, you are doing great. Don't be so concerned about how good you are. Just keep skating and practicing. Block out those thoughts about your progress and just stay focused on the skating. It takes years, I mean, years - to build up the flow and speed and strength you see in the skaters on TV. It does not come overnight.

You don't Suck! your doing AMAZING for only 7 months! just remember that it takes years to get nice flow and grace(: oh and im extremely jealous of your empty ice! also heres some tips on some stuff!
on your flip try to keep your shoulders down more, you will get more height and flow out of it. On your camel wait until the three turn to swing your arm back and straighten your knee, you will get more speed.
hope this helped!
