How to connect direct tv satellite dish antenna to a Direct Tv receiver and get signal?
hello,
I have 4 Direct tv satellite dish antennas
on the box it said "for use with any direct tv receivers"
the model of the DirectTV satellite dish antennas are "KT18 dual" "CM18 dual", "CM18 dual", "CM18 dual"
it doesn't matter how many i can connect, this antennas have two connections on them.
what matters is how can i get the signal so i could watch TV.
i also have one direct tv receiver. the model is DWD490RE
this is the web page for its manual
http://www.ultimatetv.com/includes/pdf/RCAsetupgui...
page 4 is the exact receiver that i have, and page 3 is the exact back of the receiver.
i have the receiver and a power cord, nothing else. no remote no other wires.
how do i connect it so that i could get the signal for my TV?
so that i could watch the TV with no plan.
how do i connect
thank you

You can watch the TV if you just get a regular TV antenna, but you will only receive over-the-air broadcast channels but it's FREE - but only if you have a digital TV, or a digital converter. Not so bad, if you have a DVD player, you can subscribe to Netflex or Blockbuster for movies for a low price, and if you have a Blu-Ray player or XBox you can download shows from Blockbuster or Netflex. Plus you can have music from Pandora, and it's FREE, you can watch YouTube videos too on your TV with a Blu-Ray player that is connected to the internet.
Netflex also has many popular cable TV shows that you can download. Even whole series. If you don't have a Blu-ray player or Xbox, you can watch them on your PC. With the lowest priced plan the "Watch Instantly" feature is unlimited for under 10 dollars a month, but you only get one DVD at a time.
The only way you will get a satellite signal from Direct TV's dish and box is if you purchase a plan. There is no way they will broadcast the signal unless they activate the box. The same applies to cable tv, whether the cable is directly attached to the TV or a cable box, without a plan there is no signal to your TV.
Source(s): I have basic cable and Netflex and it's fine with me, I have an antenna attached to my TV too, in case the cable goes out, which happens once in a while. And it's much cheaper than getting those plans that have a bunch of channels I never watch, and it's more reliable. - Anonymous7 years ago

If you indeed have a DirecTV Ultimate TV receiver, it will have coaxial connections as indicated in the manual.
You would need to connect both satellite inputs to the satellite dish, and aim it to the DirecTV satellites.
You also will need a subscription plan. DirecTV does not work without one. Plus, DirecTV likely will not authorize that receiver anyways, since it is not an RID receiver.
If you want TV with no subscription, you have no use for that receiver or dishes you have (since they are for pay only systems.)
If you want legally free TV, you need a plain broadcast reception antenna and your converter box, and/or an FTA satellite TV system (which uses a toally separate dish and receiver than you have now).

Both Dish Network and Direct TV systems are being pirated by individuals who believe that anything put on the airways should be free. This equipment and technology is available all over the internet at a price. It entails continuous upgrading as both Dish and Direct are constantly battling the pirates. This is also called Theft of Services and is punishable by stiff fines and possible jail time. These laws are enforced. Vendors records have been seized many times in the past and the customers were investigated, charged, and fined. If you want to proceed, google some and you will find the vendors.

Sorry, its not going to happen. They need to activate the card in your receiver that will allow your box to decode the signal. If you don't ante up, they don't turn it on.
-----
Edit: Directv is a subscription service. To get the signal, you need 1) a dish 2) a Directv box connected to the dish 3) activation by Directv, for which you pay a monthly fee.
If you just want to watch local broadcast stations over-the-air, you need an antenna and a length of coax to connect it to your TV. The dishes and boxes are irrelevant for this purpose.

Can't be done. Satellite companies cannot put those birds in orbit, then contract with TV broadcasters for free--they've got to pay their expenses to make it all happen for you. So there's no free satellite TV. Your receiver will not work unless it has been enabled by a DirecTV service center, and they won't do that unless you're a subscriber. They may not even do it then if it's a receiver that you got from a 3rd party.

Truly, there is no assessment absolutely....simply because viewing television relies on the gunky imagination of a Television set entertainer who's main concerns are budget, popularity and ratings and to Hell with theme integrity, or, for example, anything creative truly.
