please help - My wife had surgery a week ago and is not doing well.?
My wife of 25 years had open heart surgery last thursday. since she came out of the OR she has been in some sort of disconnected mental state. she cannot control her body. she seems as if she is trapped inside. i am terrified that she is going to stay that way. the doctors don't know what is wrong with her.
My question is what is this condition called where you are or maybe are aware but not in control of your movements?

That sounds terrible. I wish I could help, but my best answer would be a guess and I hate guessing on medical issues-- it seems to make people, grasp for ideas that may not be the case at all. Although I do not know you or your wife, both of you will be in my prayers and I hope that your wife has a speedy recovery.

She may be suffering shock from the open heart surgery or she could have had an adverse effect from the anethsia. Take her to a new doctor to get a unbiased opinion. This is a huge operation and very stressful and fatiguing tother body and her mind. I am sure she is on pain meds they could need to be changed as well. Prayers for your family :)

I think you need to see the doctors and question her recovery ASAP. I'm sorry I cannot help but that is the best answer you are going to get here.
