Some people just could not care less if they are a home wrecker-in fact it probably never even occurs to them. They just want to satisfy their own wants and wishes. According to statistics a very large proportion of the population have an affair at some time or other in their lives. I was absolutely astonished to discover that my own ex wife had done so. If you had told me when we were together that she had done so I would have completely refused to believe it so it is not so unusual. When you live together you have to trust and take what you have. After all, nobody owns their partner and if they do go of the narrow road it ultimately is their prerogative to do so because they have free will. Its all right to say that you have given each other a promise but we are all human and if you are able to do so its better to forgive (hard though it may be) than to throw it all away. If they chose to leave you there is nothing you can do about it really (because they have free will) although you can try to mend the damage in any way that you can. Having been there its very painful and I can sympathise with your wishes for revenge but its self defeating in the end. If its any consolation-yes she will get hers in the end. What goes around comes around.

The world is full of the "Other Woman" and also "The Other Man". We humans are just inclined to think the grass is greener on the other side. In most cases, it's lust that starts the affair. But is your own partnership really that bad. Will your new one not change to the same after a time. None of us thinks it will, but it usually does. The thing that happens to the other person as you asked is usually sadness and break up of the other relationship. So many people get hurt. It will keep happening, it's because we are human and have desires.
