what to do without valid birth certificate in Canada?
a friend of mine was born in China 37 years without original birth certificate. She is now Canadian citizen. Recently, one of the department in Canada ask for her original birth certificate in order to qualify for the pension plan. what alternative can she do if there is absolutely no way to show that document?
different department or application require different documents. it just happened the Pension need some proof of her real age which PR not considered as important as her marriage certificate.

It seems that the only recourse that your friend has is to obtain some notarized letters from people who can attest to her date of birth who are not her relatives. She would need multiple letters from respectable people. With those letters, she might be able to get the Chinese government to issue a birth certificate. She has no recourse in Canada.

How the heck did she get PR status without being able to prove her identity from china?
whatever document she used to get PR, she must use the same document to get a pension.
