Dual Voltage Appliances?

I have a pair of travel hair straighteners than are marked as 'dual voltage'.

Normally with dual voltage items (i.e. hairdryers, etc.) there is a switch on them to switch between European and US voltages. However the straighteners do not appear to have any such switch.

My question is, can an appliance be dual voltage without a switch? Can it change voltage settings automatically when it detects a voltage change?

I am in the UK, and travelling to the US later this year.

Thanks.

yes they can, and are a lot safer than the ones with a switch, just imagine if it was forgoten to be pressed, so dont worry your dual voltage straighteners will be fine, ( have a lovely time out there )

Simple answer Yes. Most appliances now made for world markets and multi voltage and multi frequency if your device rating plate states AC 100-240 50/60 Hz then it is a multi voltage device a special circuit inside makes sure that the device always selects the right voltage automatically. Always check your devices first or set them to highest setting or plug them into lowest voltage socket if testing them

you ought to purchase converters at radio shacks, I considered them additionally at digital shops. terrific place if on base px. they have the converter and the unusual plug in you will choose in Europe. or you may in basic terms order from the px oversees have been you're going. Europe makes use of 50hrts ,one hundred ten volt have been us makes use of 60hrts one hundred ten.
