DUI in the military while stationed overseas?

I am a military dependent stationed overseas with my husband and had a dui. Now they informed me that they will have to give my dui case to the dmv of the state that issued my driver license which is in my case Nebraska. What can the dmv do? Will I be charged? I am confused

Update:

Also will I have a record in my criminal record? I mean theoretically I've never been presented in front of a court

Update 2:

Looking at the answers I should probably add that it was a dui on base and not off base

  • It may just be to get in your driving record. I would think that the law in each state could be different enough that a blanket....they will do this...may not apply. I would not rule out that they could do whatever is done if you are charged in state such as restrict it, suspend it....pretty sure that would not be double jeapordy as the country you are in cannot do anything to a license they did not issue.

Depending on the agreement you could be expelled by that country. You could aslo be sent home by the military. We had a Warrant who's wife was sent back CONUS for alleged adultry. That was 1975.

Oh yeah, once in port, you could particularly a lot do as you please see you later via the undeniable fact that's interior boundries of both the host united states of america's regulations *and* interior the regs of the military. As for quite exploring? nicely, at the same time as i become in, there become a reduce as to how a ideas you should bypass before having to ask permission; yet that reduce become fairly insane, like 2 hundred miles away before notifying your CO and writing a go away chit. As on your get at the same time of Japan? see you later as you do not might want to be everywhere, yeah, take a walking excursion; there are not fairly any regs hostile to that. ought to point a pal though (can't save in ideas if that's a reg or a guidance; I never paid it any ideas).

    No charges.

But your drivers license can be suspended, just as if you had a dui in Nebraska.

But you could fight it, since you were not convicted of a DUI

No you won't be charged with anything you may have your license suspended or points deducted and your insurance may go up but you wont end up in jail or anything. That is if you feel like actually reporting yourself when you get back.

I don't know what the effects will be as far as U.S. law. But be aware that in Germany at least, ONE DUI is enough for them to suspend your driving privileges in the country permanently. That's local law there, as they have zero tolerance for drinking and driving.
