What are the best (if any), most humane and people-oriented companies to work for in the US today?

Companies that don't treat people like mere numbers or statistics? Are you one of the lucky ones who works for one of these companies?

When you say 'humane and people-oriented' I think of an organic farmer's market. They peacefully work their crops and sale them. I think your question is more related to ethics in corporate America so I think you should check out the "BEST PLACES TO WORK" list by Glassdoor.com

    http://www.glassdoor.com/Best-Places-to-Work-LST_K...

The rating is compiled based on the responses of former and current employees.

"A free inside look at over 84,000 companies.

    Hope it helps!

    Not any more ! I quit !

Really I did.............Of course it was with a pension and social security but I still did actually quit.

I was and still am a member of a Union whose membership extends well beyond work being performed by that company,or that industry for that matter! The pension is through the Union but the work and assignments came from the company. The boss (owner ) is a fair-minded sort of fellow who started out as a rank-and-file worker like the rest of us but when the opportunity arose to become entrpreneur and take over the business himself he jumped in.

It is a bit sad to say that he did not reach any high financial goals and in fact has and continues to make personal sacrifices to keep the company operating. Several of his top-earning employees net higher income in the year than he does.

I find him to be an excellent role-model but this lack of financial accumulation serves as disincentive to many who may consider trying such activities..........a real shame.

In case you have not already guessed the company is rather small, the largest payroll it has ever had was around 40, and most usually is 20 or less. The work is specialized, the technicians commonly highly trained. Reputation is the all important fabric of continuity for the business model.

I do believe that not just in this industry but in general the best companies to work for are of a similar size---true the glory may be lacking, but who needs glory if most everyone is satisfied, adequately compensated, and looks forward to going into work regularly ?

    Interesting question.

    Wide. Very wide.

Well, I'm not an US citizen, but I would trust the Melissa Gates Foundation.

Try to check at Twitter people they follow and you might find an wider selection of good names that could fit your humanitarian concerns.
