What can be done to stop Global warming.?

Firstly it is necessary to differentiate between global climate changes which have taken place continuously since the world was formed, changes that take place over millions of years or thousands of years, and the global warming that has been taking place during the past hundred years because of the impact of mankind on our surroundings. Nothing can be done to stop natures climate changes. What we are talking about is climate change and global warming caused by mankind and the advance of civilisation.

The general public in the USA don't believe global warming is serious because it doesn't affect them and it's unlikely to affect their children or grandchildren. However, the great majority of USA corporations, academics, economists, and politicians realise that although the problems of global warming may not affect many Americans directly, what happens in the rest of the world does end up with an impact on every citizen of the USA and for that reason they do take it seriously.

What causes global warming? Number one cause is the world's accelerating population growth. Number two cause is our ever increasing demand for energy.

What can be done to stop it? Three things - and we really do need to address all three.

1. Mankind needs to reduce its energy consumption.

This is an extraordinarily complex issue and the conflict of interests is massive. The world could make vast savings though efficiency improvements and lifestyle changes but what effect would this have on the millions of people employed in the transportation industries, luxury goods manufacturers, and marketing industries. Reducing inefficiency takes us all a few steps closer to becoming clones.

2. The world population needs to be reduced.

This goes right against the grain. Everybody likes to see large healthy happy families. Everybody wants to live to a ripe old age. Everybody wants to see improved health care. Everybody wants to see economic growth and better international relations. Nobody wants to see disease, starvation, or disaster.

3. We need to recognise the problems, set an example, and work toward a viable solution.

Some believe global warming is natural global process that will eventually lead to and ice age of unknown proportions. And it comes in cycles.

Others think we are causing it with all the co2 we pump out.

Back during the time of the dinosaurs co2 levels were much higher than they are today and life thrived then way more than it does now.

Most likely nothing can be done it will have to play out...

There are a multitude of different recommendations put forward but none of them really address the situation fully. We can seed clouds but that would not get rid of the effect of ocean acidification and should be a last ditch effort if all else fails. My favourite is growing vast plankton farms and allowing natural cycles, via increased carbon sinks, to deal with it. Over time technology is being improved to deal with large emissions and such. In order to increase the use of that technology various sections of society have put forward ideas of carbon taxes and cap and trade programs.

And the US is a very political climate. Some are using that fact to support their false beliefs and promote propaganda that people fall for because it supports their party of choice and shows the opposing party is crooked. Politics, however, is built upon lies. In order to asses if there is or us not global warming we should be paying attention to science, not politics.

The countries that claim that global warming is real are the ones that have destroyed their wildlife, destroyed their forests, and yet expect everybody else to believe popular lies.

do you suggest we return to the stone age! live in caves and wear fur for clothes? all on the theory that ''climate changes" might be occurring. and does anyone thing that living technology and automobile free like the Amish do will stop global warming? if it is happening?

meanwhile Al Gore lives in the lap of luxury! with a mansion that has 9 TOILETS. he flys around on a private jet. and you can bet your bottom dollar that hes warm in the winter.

Seriously, kid, Global Warming isn't going to stop unless everyone will try to stop it.
