No. Matt Hardy never was and never will be 'championship material'. Matt Hardy was never anything really special. Back in the Hardys, they both carried eachother, but if anything, Jeff carried Matt. Jeff was more the one who would take risks no matter what, and Matt was the one who sometimes took risks, but preferred to keep it safe. Matt is the less extreme version of Jeff, and fans didn't like that. Matt does have a pretty big fan base, but I do think he's slowly losing supporters because he's doing nothing to keep them. The Hardys were awesome, but that's in the past and you cannot rely on your past to make your future. Matt looked great in the Hardys, and they were such a fun team. But that was the success of his career and honestly don't think he will make more of his career. I am actually a fan of Matt Hardy and I certinly think he is capable of more. As I said he has a large fan base, but that all came from the Hardys and Jeff took on more. So Matt doesn't have the fan base or fan connection needed to really progress and become better.

Matt has also had issues with his weight and injuries. I wouldn't say he is majorly injury prone, but his injuries have effected his career and where he was headed. During his stint with MVP, Matt looked really good, but still nothing screamed world champion. He had a good run with the US title and most fans liked it. When he got his burst appendix that's what started the downhill struggle. He never really got back from it. It effected his training, his in ring ability. He was never the same after, and he still isn't now. His body image did bring him on a lot of jokers and haters, which I don't agree with, but that's how it went. Now Matt has a gathering of haters following him and I think it's slowly sending him off the edge. With all his comments and even beef with former wrestlers. Matt Hardy is going about it all the wrong way if he wants a push.

But should he get a push anyway, no. He isn't a great wrestler, he's just mediocre. Jeff carried him through imo, and unfortunately Matt will always be remembered as the brother of Jeff Hardy, Matt is always in the shadow. Matt can be exciting and he can be good on mic if the story is there. Like, he was good during his fued with Edge and Lita. But nothing about Matt Hardy screams world champion. He has no real gimmick, no character base, no status in WWE. He is just milling about with no real cause or direction. Matt Hardy will end Matt Hardy. He will NEVER become a world champion in WWE and will he even last another week in the company. I wouldn't bet my life on it!! But as I said, Matt Hardy will end Matt Hardy.

Of course he is, he has a fan following, very talented wrestler, who is charismatic, and is a veteran and knows what he is doing in the ring! And speaking of World Championship Material, and what passes for World Champions these days, guys like Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, Kane, etc. a lot of guys who have been viewed as Mid Card talents have gotten a World Title run, in WWE, I don't see why Matt Hardy couldn't be consider in the same league as many of the past and current World Champions!

If Matt was in TNA, I think he would almost definitely get a World Title Match, within the first few months of being there, he could be a World Champion in any promotion if that promotion was willing to take a chance on Matt!

Source(s): "They" told me to come to the WS and answer some questions!!!
  • I personally don't see him championship material as of right now but, I never knew Sheamus was going to win the title so quick, so he might actually be championship material.

Of course he is world championship material but WWE is not giving him a push and now he is getting fat so that is why some people think he is not world championshp material. He is very talented but I don't see WWE giving him a push any time soon so it would be better if he went to TNA.

I believe he is..back when he first came him..I didn't see him or jeff as championship material..but he's really worked hard and developed his character pretty good also...he's really over with the crowd as a face and knows how to gets tons of heat on him as a heel..especially with his version 1.0 character..I feel he can carry the smackdown brand and have great feuds for the belt..I think him and christian can have a great feud over the belt right now..he won't get the belt but imo I feel he his championship material

Its all about an opportunity. Back in 2004, he was as good as Edge or Orton but he never had that opportunity. So he never got a chance to shine ...

I am sure he would've been a multiple time world champion and as well as a top superstar. If he would've been the man to cash money in the bank of Cena. But now in 2010, its too late for him to become a world champion. He is still good but you can't say that he is in his actual prime and sadly, his matitude is no more.

no i can see him holding a world tile for like a month for a certain fued but i dont think matt hardy is entertaining enough to be a world champ

    Not in my opinion.

He's not all that talented, out of shape and he's got no charisma to cover for any of that. He also seems to be something of a poor sport judging by his tweets and videos and whatnot.
