hCG levels after supposed miscarriage?
Ok, so I am going to try and give as much detail as possible. I went on Depo in August '09 had too many side effects so in December '09 I switched to NuvaRing. As of April 2010 I still had no menses so I came off NuvaRing and my husband and I decided if I got pregnant then great but we weren't going to go crazy trying. Well July 3, 2010 I had a crazy dizzy spell come on and it didn't go away for a while and I still have spells here and there, I had a CT Scan, an MRI, went on multiple medications, Valium, Meclazine, Zofran, and Klonopin to try and control the dizziness but nothing worked. I also took multiple pregnancy test both HPT and the hospital and doctor performed many which came out negative. I didn't take anything for more than 2 weeks, on August 5 I took a HPT and got a positive, so I called my family doctor and they got me in right away and confirmed pregnancy as well as a quantitative blood test. Everything went well, I had a scan done on August 24 which showed a perfectly healthy 6 week 1 day fetus. My first prenatal appt was September 1, everything checked out fine. They scheduled another scan for September 13 to confirm the EDD. I was so excited to see my baby again I took my mom and cousin along and got the most shocking news of my life, that the baby was in fetal demise, and there was no heartbeat. I should have been 9 weeks on the day of the scan and the fetus measured 7 weeks 5 days. Now here is where the confusion comes into play. My hCG is where it should be for a 9-10 week pregnancy not for fetal demise at 7-8 weeks. I had my levels taken August 5, September 1, 14, 17 the only numbers I don't have are from September 1, but on August 5 it was 50, September 14, 246,601 and dropped very little on September 17 to 238,720. Which is about right because between 9-11 weeks your numbers reach as high as they will go and then they fall and level off for the remainder of the pregnancy. The scan on the 13 was not very thorough in my eyes, lasted an entire 5 minutes tops, and in that time, she measured my ovaries, cervix, uterus, fetus and spent maybe 30 seconds on the heartbeat. I am not wanting any false hope by any means but I am so confused because my numbers are where they should be, I have absolutely NO spotting, bleeding, or cramping, I still have my morning sickness and everything else. I am taking horrible care of myself this week because of stress not eating, sleeping, drinking as I should nor taking my vitamins. Please help me make sense of this, I do have an appt tomorrow morning to schedule a D & C which I am not comfortable with at all! Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

I would not go ahead with that appointment if I were you, no way. What is the rush?
I'd get another ultrasound done by a different technician.
I just went through a miscarriage (still going through it) and I was 11 weeks and baby stopped growing at 8 weeks...but with me all my symptoms had stopped. No more sore boobs, no morning sickness.
I wish I could get an update from you to see how it turns out. I'm sorry for what you are going through, I hope they turn out to be wrong.

Your HCG is wherein it will have to be for a nine-10 week being pregnant considering that that's what its meant to be..........you're nonetheless nine-10 weeks pregnant. Your youngster does not make HCG, so HCG does not pass down considering that youngster is in dying. Your frame makes HCG, so so long as your frame thinks its nonetheless pregnant (which it's), it nonetheless makes HCG. At this degree in being pregnant, you would miscarry certainly, however you're some distance sufficient alongside that your frame would certainly not reject youngster........that is why a D&C maybe integral. They will have to do yet another test earlier than the system day after today. If they do not present one, call for one. At nine weeks, a fetal heartbeat will have to be handy to become aware of (in method not up to 30 seconds) and if they do not see one, its no longer there. I'm sorry :o(
