Abortion and Feminism, Why fetus fate is mother's decision while child is both parents' responsibility?

I asked about why a woman can force the man to be a father while the man can not force her to be a mother and one of the answerer called "True Britt" said :

"No one forces a man to be a father - he makes the decision to have sex and take on the risk. He doesn't get pregnant - the woman does. When a man can get an abortion on his body, he can demand equal control of his body. And I'll support him.

You are old enough to have sex, you are old enough to know the possible consequences and risks. If you go ahead and it doesn't go according to plan, you only have yourself to blame."

So you want a man to handle the responsibility of the child because he chose to have sex ? But this comes against you not more than against me. A woman has more choices and more methods of contraception and this means if a man must handle the consequences of his choice then the woman also have to handle the consequences. I do not have any hesitation now to say the abortion must be prevented while this never means that a woman have no reproductive rights because she has more contraception methods than men. Added to this she must not get any paid pregnancy leave, she knew if she had sex she would get pregnant and this may affect her work. It is just that simple

And if a woman have her right to abort, then she should also have responsibility towards her fetus. If she drunk too much or smoked too much during pregnancy and the child became damaged due to that then she must also handle the consequences because she knew the risks. She must get JAILED if her fetus came damaged to life due to bad health habits.

And once the man is the person who become pregnant then we may apply the same rule against men ! And I know that man's health contribute to fetus health but woman's health has much more effect. Added to this a woman must handle the duty of breastfeeding the child and must not ask for equal payment for a breast-feeder, she must handle the consequences of her choice !

A person named "Judy & Charlie" answered

"If a man does not wish to be part of a paternity suit, he has only to keep his pants on. He cannot be forced to take his pants off against his will. And that's why you can't force a woman to become a mother against her will. In the end, society doesn't want to have to pay to support your off spring because the 2 people who made the child should support it or give it away for adoption: simple."

Actually the answer is the same but in the end she said that they both have to pay child support, and this is a misleading idea. Because having sex is not an agreement to make a baby, this is against human right because the man did not choose the have the baby so why the woman take the decision ALONE but then ask for SHARED responsibility ?

It's her body right ? My . . . My . . . My

But actually the fetus body is assembled from its mother's body by HER CHOICE. So if want to take it biologically then the child is creature from the woman's body so she must not ask for child support ! But if we want to say Man's chromosomes contributed half of the genes in the fetus then we must consider equal rights over that child while the current rules want 100% responsibility from non-marriage father while giving him zero rights to see the child unless he apply in a court or take mother permission. But why mothers permission ? why even the mother take the custody automatically unless the man get court order ? It must be automatic joint custody unless we get a court order

In other words My body  My choice alone (Abortion or NOT)  My responsibility alone (Child Support)

Let me start by saying I'm pro choice.

    Now....

Tru Brit you're so full of crap.

In your own words, quoted in the question, you are saying that if a woman gets pregnant, it's the man's fault. That if he didn't want to accept the role of parent, she should not have had sex. O.o

So are you implying she was raped? That she too did not make a choice to have sex? Why don't the same rules apply to women? If she is not ready to be a parent, then she shouldn't have sex either should she? If you're going to use that kind of outdated logic then at least follow it through and apply it to both sexes or you just end up looking like an intellectual fool.

And who are you kidding with the "no one can force a man to be a father" bit? It's a clever twist on words. No, you can't force a man to be a father, but you can financially force him to be a parent with legal obligations and expectations that weren't his choice either. And no, a man cannot have an abortion on his body, but I would advocate that he could have one on his wallet. Women get 'caught' by pregnancy physically and we have a solution to that for women who do not want to be mothers--birth control, adoption, abortion. Men get caught financially, and there is no solution to that that is favorable to the man who does not want to be a father. He MUST pay, he MUST be a father depending on the decision made by the woman. Men have no recourse that is NOT dependent upon what the pregnant woman decides.

    As far as -

"You are not alone in your responsibility as a man, either financially or custodial. The woman usually takes on the lion's share."

Maybe, but that's only IF she doesn't choose abortion. Again, he is dependent upon her choice.

And really? A man can walk away of he chooses? You mean all these laws to pursue deadbeat dads are a figment of our collective imagination? Really? I'm not saying that men who walked away from their children AFTER deciding to commit to them shouldn't be held responsible, but for those that did not want to be fathers from the start to be lumped in with them and be labeled deadbeat dads is stupid. Men can't just walk away, to say so is either incredibly naive or an outright lie.

The majority of women who have abortions do so at the request of men? Wow, what a sh*tty opinion of women you have Tru Brit. We are incapable of making decisions regarding our bodies? We allow men to decide when/if we should become mothers?

Isn't this the very thing feminism railed against?

Asker, to your question--- idk if there's a good answer. Given everything I've said above, I think it's mostly unanswerable. It's always going to be unfair. That's why I'm a supporter of financial abortion for men. It's the only way men will get reproductive rights at all.

My son and I talked about this issue today. Each case will be separate and individually complicated. If a child is old enough and can understand what his options are, and the possible outcomes, then he should have the most say in his treatment. This should hold true even if it is based on his beliefs, as long as he has been objectively presented with all options. If he is too young to understand the risks and outcomes, the parents should make the decisions after careful consultation with doctors and other experts. Parents will usually have the child's best interest at heart. However, if their decision will result in the probable irreparable damage or death of the child, a court should assign a child advocate to make the decision, along with the doctors. In the U.S., there is freedom of religious practice, yes, but only to an extent. For instance, a religion which believes in human sacrifice, or even animal sacrifice, would not be allowed to practice that rite. The rights of a parent to prevent a young child from getting necessary medical treatment due to their beliefs falls in this same type of category. Abortion is a different issue altogether, as some here have already pointed out. The parent is not choosing a treatment for a child.

Wrong! I love how people can say "when u have sex u kno the consequences" correct! But this also means that the woman should know the consequences as well, so if a woman has sex n gets pregnant but she can easily get out of the consequences of being a parent by getting an abortion simply because she "doesn't want it" then a man should be able to get out of if as well! Both men and women should either refrain from sex or use protection if they don't want a child. This is what we like to call "ignorance"

Feminist actually believe if a man doesn't want kids that he should not have sex... but that all women have the right to have sex if they want because they never have to be responsible for the life they create when they get pregnant. it is a double standard all the way... they stand there like complete idiots and say if men don't want babied cover their junk or don't have sex... but those same women will have unprotected sex with out using birth control and if they get pregnant from that they will either have the kid and force the man they bumped uglies with to pay child support for 18 years, or they will murder the child! Feminist are only responsible for getting pregnant when it suits them...

Feminist do not give a flying fart in hell about men's rights... All they care about is being able to do what they wish with their bodies... and if they do not want to prevent a pregnancy before it happens by golly they aren't gonna! cause it is their right to stop the pregnancy after the fact... feminists have grown so disrespectful of human life that it is pathetic... but they still expect men to be accountable for ever child born... cause that is the easiest way to make sure they are making a man pay with something!

Men NEVER trust a woman! protect yourself from getting a woman pregnant till you are with the one you want children with! cause too many will use a man through a kid instead of getting off her A$$ and earning her own damned money....

Men get little to no choice when it comes to this. If a guy doesn't want to be a father he can literally be forced into it just because he had sex. Even if he talked to the woman about not wanting kids beforehand she can still change her mind should she get pregnant and force him to be a dad. At the same time if he wanted his child she could ignore him and abort it. I agree, it's unfair.

    True Brit is a feminist.

Feminists want rights for women and responsibilities for men. This is evidenced in their responses to women having the 'right' to kill a man's child - but a man must be made financially responsible for her decision to have (or not) the child.

Feminism is sexism. Simple as that.

Ya know, when a woman gets pregnant, her brain physically shrinks in the first 6 months. Then new neural pathways are made, creating irrevocable changes in her brain and who she is.

That alone is scary enough, not to mention the hormonal changes.

So pregnancy changes a woman forever, regardless of whether she raises or aborts the child or gives it up for abortion. It is also majorly taxing on the body and mind and it has some health risks, it could ruin a lot of her plans and thereby possibly her life.

I say that should give her an extra say in the matter...

I agree that it should be possible to jail women for neglect/abuse when she clearly does unhealthy things while pregnant, ie. drinking/smoking/drug abuse.

In our country, we have a handy arrangement where husbands have to pay childsupport, boyfriends don't (unless they sign a form stating they're the father). You can't force a paternity test. I agree with that, it's not fair if a woman can trick a man and still make him pay.

Also, in my country, if the dad can't pay the childsupport, they don't send him to jail or anything. They change the amount he has to pay according to his income, plus the government helps out if the mother is very poor.

True Brits argument is wrong, men are often forced to be fathers, what she is doing is obscuring sex and fatherhood.

The second answer as you pointed out is hypocritical.

These people occupy whatever position works out best for them at the time, the mans rights aren't a consideration of theirs and that have a hard time conceptualising the other POV's.

True brit, fatherhood is forced through lies about birth control, the child support system, child farming for profit, paternity fraud and genuine accidents.

Don't forget, this is also why they created the Safe Haven Laws, because they also are willing to kill them later, rather than give them to a father and face the possibility of paying child support.

So she's saying that men can think though whether to have sex or not and they have the choice not to and it's their responsibility but women somehow don't get to choose to have sex and cannot possibly be responsible?

    She sounds like a misogynist.
