If you were an ER doctor how would you feel about helping an illegal alien?
Now if you an immigrant doctor working in a US hospital and an illegal hispanic person(not all illegals are mexican) came in form being shot how would you treat them? Would you just treat their wounds and feel angry that they are illegal. Would be compassionate? If they were shot because they were working in a fast food place that was robbed how would feel then?
I am asking about personal feelings. Doctors are humans too and they are not perfect. Just because they took a hypocratic oath does not omit them having a personal bias. There are good doctors and bad doctors. People I am not ragging on illegals I am just asking about human feelings of other people. OK?
Thanks YodyMan for that great link!!!Awesome!
No I know that all illegals are not hispanic but I was posting this question based on stereotype. I am from New York and I have known Chinese, Haitian, Polish, and Irish illegals.
Thanks Danny for your honesty.
WOW smells ....... ! Thanks for your input!

According to these answer they are saying Doctors are suppose to work for free. When an illegal receives treatment in the ER the ER doctor is a separate billing, meaning the ER dr send his bill for services rendered.I would not feel very good about it. Especially if I have a student loan to pay on and illegals are coming and using my skills as a dr and being able to rip me off by not paying me for my services I provided. How many supporters show up at their jobs and agree to work for free.Suppose their employer said the work we did for x-company they did no pay us for our services in turn I will not be paying you for all the work you did.Doctors have to make a living too. Illegals certainly are now out there working for free. It's unfair the dr get's cheated and does not get paid. And these people are cool with forcing ER doctors to work for free and receive no wages. The illegals also signed paperwork agreeing that the dr's bill is a separate bill.So far supporters, say dr's do not deserve to get paid when treating illegals. That all services are to be free of charge.Everybody else has to pay.Illegals get handouts and free medical care. That's how a lot of hospitals loose money when illegals are getting free medical care and hospitals & dr's are not getting paid

Provided the situation is a matter of life or death, I would help anybody. Say I had to call 911 for them or remove them from harm's way somehow. I feel that if I let somebody die because of that or a similar suspicion then Karma will come after me with a vengeance. There are bigger things than Nationality and wether or not somebody is where they belong. That being said, should an illegal ask me for directions Id point to Mexico and tell him the place hes lookin for moved.

I would just do my job, as most medical professionals would. They don't talk politics or get into big discussions over citizenship when they have an injury or illness to treat. Doctors are especially focused on the "fix it" aspect of medicine, whereas nurses are more geared toward caregiving. They just do their jobs. Billing is a completely separate question. The doctors do not control who is or is not insured. They legally have to treat anyone who comes to an ER. Once the doctor's job is done, either the individual or the insurance company will be billed. I don't think that illegal aliens can get medical insurance here.

First:
"an illegal hispanic person(not all illegals are mexican)"
Not all illegals are Hispanic either.
I work as an EMT in my city and it pisses me off when I hear the way some healthcare 'professionals' talk about people who are illegal (or in a few cases were American but had no insurance). When they got into this line of work they did it to help the 'sick and injured' not the 'legal and insured'. When I get someone in my ambulance they are my patient regardless of what they look like or what kind of accent they have. I had a case once where I was transferring a patient from one hospital to another and, despite being beat up pretty bad, she wasn't given proper care simply because she was homeless and "had no insurance".

being a doctor, you swore on the hypocratic oath, which means that you must help and treat any person who is in need of care.
being a doctor, you treat human being, you cannot in good conscience categorize between political status, races or religions.

A doctor should not judge, that is for others at another time. Who knows where one's journey through life is at or is going to end up?

As far as I know, Doctors must still take the Hippocratic Oath.

Besides, one of the leading brain surgeons in the US was once a illegal alien from Mexico:

A person who got shot is in pain and needs medical attention regardless of their country of origin. As a doctor (hypothetically), my number one priority is treating and stabilizing the patient. I wouldn't see it any other way.

Doctors don't know when someone's illegal. And not all illegals are Hispanic either.

If I took the Hippocratic Oath, I would have no problem with it. Obviously, you do. Good thing you're not a doctor.
