Stocking suggestions for a S.A. Cichlid setup?

Question

I have a 55 gallon aquarium that I have yet to setup but I would like to have a S.A. cichlid tank and I was looking for some possible suggestions. Also some resources I can use for designing the tank would be useful too.

I know I would like 1 small oscar to start (I also know they grow) but I was wondering what other cichlids I could keep in a tank that size with the oscar.

Peacock cichlids look quite nice and they can go with Oscars just make sure the Oscar isn't to small.I would recommend a good cichlid substrate with a nice rock structure

my friend has a huge tank with an oscar, a jack dempsey, and two ram heads
all are full grown

theres not too much, but they usually go better with cichlids
or a species only tank
