How can I advise how to write to advise?

Hi, I have a little homework task.... a retarded one set by one of my least favourite language teachers.

How the hell do I "advise how to write to advise" ?

Anyone give me a head start or an essay that I can follow the structure of?

- Alexander.

Update:

Hmm, It could go either way. I may have to write how to give advice or ...

as i heard it, advise how to write to advise.

Update 2:

Erm Im actually in it because I work hard, not because I was lucky and I have a fantastic attitude, I merely used this to re-enforce what I already know about the work. So erm... to put it lightly, screw you kaliesq. BUT MANY thanks for your helpful "advice"... excuse the pun.

This is how you should write to advise :

    1. Please ensure that your advice is valid and relevant.

    2. Write in neat, short paragraphs.

    3. Don't write too-much about yourself.

    4. Write sincerely and helpfully.

    5. Avoid abbreviations and jargon, especially the Facebook-sort.

    6. Don't make spelling or grammatical mistakes.

    7. Write differently ; 80 % of all idioms are very-stale ; write innovatively : instead of writing " a shadow of doubt, " write " the shadow of a doubt " - this version is more-respected by the world's top-five authors.

    8. Don't sound pompous or too-knowledgeable in your advices.

    9. Best-of-luck-to-you !

You give information/tips/strategies/suggestions/examples that your reader can use to give helpful information to others in writing. Write (1) an essay that explains (A) how to write an essay/ instruction manual/advice column/book that explains (i) how to do/be/decide/analyze/identify/etc. anything.

Actually, this is a pretty cool assignment. Many people need to give written instructions or advice in their jobs (to their boss, subordinates, customers), how to teach, or how to coach a football team; and other people's jobs consist of putting in writing how they can do that in a clear, logical, understandable, and effective way. Being able to give advice is also useful in personal relationships: how a parent can raise children to be solid citizens, how to keep a friend from becoming an addict or choosing a college or making any of a thousand other decisions. You are being asked how to put in writing information that guides people in helping others do (anything).

Before that, of course, you must understand the assignment, which means thinking through "advise how to write to advise" (what I did for you, above) -- an excellent exercise for your mind. Learning how to think is absolutely invaluable in limitless ways and areas you'll deal with throughout your life.

It sounds to me that you have an excellent teacher, and being in his/her class is a wonderful opportunity to learn a tremendous amount that can make you very successful. Change your attitude and take advantage of your lucky break.

The only way I can make sense of this is to wonder whether you should have written "advise how to write advice" ??? At least this might be possible!

I work with someone who can't get this - advice is the noun - advise is the verb.

I advise him how to write advice.
