Question on feeder fish and Oscars?
I've heard the most of the goldfish kept in stores as feeders can be dieased and not nutrionally beneficial for Oscars. Are there other fish that can be used as feeders like fancy guppies or zebra danios or even feeder goldfish as an occasional snack, like once every few months? Would a one time or occasional feeding really be that dangerous? If so is there another live food alternative?

If you set up a tank to breed your own healthy feeders you won't have a problem. They love live earth worms as well. There are many other types of live food out there but if you breed it yourself you know it's fine.

Well i know they can get disease. But personally,
me and my mother have had a tank of cichlids for many years and always fed them feeder fish and NEVER had a problem with it.
Butttt, we also bought them from probably the best fish store in Texas, which is no longer open.
I wouldnt take a chance now knowing what i know
Like the other person said you can breed youre own healthy feeder fish.
