Ballantine's is a blended scotch whiskey, so it can be used in any drink that calls for scotch. Really, scotch is meant to be drank neat (no ice, no mixer) but this isn't a high end scotch so it isn't a sin to mix it. If you had a bottle of 18 year Glenmorangie, it would be blasphemy to mix it.
It's good with soda water and a twist of lemon, or with 7up or coke. It can also be mixed with coffee and irish cream for an irish coffee.
