Why do right-wingers hold the view that the government needs to cut spending?

but when it cuts spending they call it wealth redistribution?

The truth is, they only want stuff that does not benefit them cut (education) and stuff that does benefit them increased (military to conquer those heathens).

Your link goes to a page telling about the IRS not sending out tax forms next year to save money...What does that have to do with your question???The fact that they're cutting spending?? That isn't cutting spending. That isn't even worth mentioning in the discussion of cutting spending. And I haven't seen any such wealth redistribution. But if you want to get technical, that's ALL the economy is. There is only so much money. And they don't burn it when the economy gets bad like it is now. It just goes to other people and other places. For every single dollar lost by every single person in the stock market, another person somewhere MADE that dollar. If you lost 10 million in the stock market, and I earned 10 million in the stock market, you got broke, and I got rich. Simple. for every dollar lost by one person, it's earned by another. It is simply redistributed. ALL wealth is redistributed. GM loses money, because Hyundai is making more. The US is losing money, because China is making more. You and I are BOTH losing money, because our jobs have gone elsewhere, and now someone else is making more. They may be making less than we did, and the rest of the money that's left over, goes into the coffers of the corporation as profits. It's the same money. It's just in different places. There is the economics lesson for the day.

Because they're shallow. Just as with Reagan, they consider the first level of effect and then they stop. Tax cut goooood. Deficit? Tax cut gooooood.

Like the guy who just said letting workers keep more of their wealth. Hahahah. Dude, stop watching fox news. Dems help workers, reps hurt them. They hurt them because free market principles alone disadvantages labor. Communism may be even more stupid, but a blend of capitalist democracy has proven better than both. Dont be dim.

And about the deficit. Obama and the other leaders are right. We pay lower taxes then them, that's why we have a deficit. They tax more and spend even more, they might wanna think about coming back in this direction. Pretty obvious balance situation going on.

In the last G20 economic summit 19 of 20 governments said that Debt was the number one threat to the world economy. Obama was alone in suggesting that Governments actually spend more.

With European countries like Greece, Italy, Spain, and Ireland on the verge of collapse from Debt there is no interest anywhere in going further into debt....except in the Obama administration.

In the end all 20 governments agreed to cut their deficits by 30%.

What do you suppose the chances are that the entire world is wrong and Obama is right?

E-filing has been available for at least ten years.

The government is hopelessly behind the curve.

Then they just think that is more money to waste, instead of lowering the taxes imposed on the people.

Name even one year they cut spending.

why do you think government spending is the answer to all our problems? When you cut spending you let the people keep more of the money they earned. To let a worker keep what he/she has worked for is not "wealth redistribution".

  • 1 decade ago

the article never said anything about "redistribution of wealth".

I don't understand it either. Here they want to maintain the conflicts in the Middle East, but they don't want to pay taxes. Our war machine needs money folks, soldiers don't do it for free and their gear ain't free either!
