Suggestions for Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration?
We're throwing a block party for Hispanic Heritage Month. One of our planned activities is an obstacle course. It'll begin our yard, where one must don a sea bag with 2 40lb. weights inside to simulate a bag full of illegal drugs, swim the length of the pool to simulate the Rio Grande, then scale the privacy fence, which is 7' tall, simulating the fence at the border, of course, and into the neighbor's yard and into the greenhouse where one must pick a peck of tomatoes, and then proceed to a gutted VW bus where we will see how many people we can shove into it, simulating a one bedroom apartment holding 20 people. We're going to have a hot pepper eating contest also. Any other suggestions for things to do at our party??? Maybe some target shooting at efiges of old people and kids and farmers at work...And maybe throw some ICE officer efiges in as well. They could be worth double points! Any suggestions???
4 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoWhen did the Democrats re-write history and re-define 1/2 the dictionary?
I read an article in the New York Times yesterday, where the author, a professed Democrat, called all Republicans Nazis, said that anyone who had a strong opinion against Premier Obama was either a racist, treasonous, or subjugating the overthrow of the U.S. Gov. and as such should be arrested and thrown in prison. WHEN exactly, did the history of the World get re-written? Last I checked, Obama was a socialist, as was Hitler, THE Nazi. People are using a swastika in acommunityn with Republicans, when Republicans are the OPPOSITE of Nazis!!! And this arresting people for dissention? W.T.F.??? Two years ago, Democrats touted dissention as the HIGHEST FORM OF PATRIOTISM. Personally, I always thought doing your duty as a citizen and serving your country in its Armed Forces was the highest form of Patriotism (but Democrats have always had a sideways view of the world, and would know a partiot if it punched them in the mouth...But I digress), but now, dissention should be a crime, and not a form of patriotism...Sounds a little like Lennin,Marx, Chairman Mao, Pol Pot, Hitler...All of the so called Socialists have FEARED dissention. Looks like this new Socialist crowd is alittle afraid of it as well. But WHEN did the deffinition of socialist change to mean Democratic, and when did Nazi become to mean ANYTHING BUT Socialist??? The OPPOSITE of Republican beliefs? I'd really like for someone to give that a LEGITIMATE answer. Not a smart alleck remark, but a sincere, well thought out ANSWER to my QUESTION.
6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoS-10 5 spd. transmission swaps?
I've got a question to you guys who know more than I do about swapping GM transmissions. I have a 1981 El Camino SS with a close ratio 4 spd. trans. My wife and I gave the car to our son who drives it to/from college about 350 mile trip, and we're looking for the LEAST expensive option for installing a 5 speed into it for better mileage. I'm not concerned with the transmission's ability to handle high horsepower, as the factory engine in the El Camino is only rated at about 250 hp, and that's WITH the aluminum heads, 4 bbl carb and intake, Thumper roller cam, gear drive, headers, and dual exhaust. There's only so much hp to wring out of a 305, and I don't care what you do, short of bottle feeding it. LOL. So handling the power of a V-8 isn't an issue here.
I can get 5 spd. trannys from S-10 2.2 4 cyl. trucks for under $200 all day long. And about the same for the V-6 tranny, which I understand is the SAME tranny. Isn't the New Process 5 spd. used in the S-10 trucks the same New Process 5 spd. used in 1/2 ton trucks with the 3.6L V-6 and 305-350 V-8 engines? I have seen these trannys that bolt to the bellhousing with 4 bolts like the saginaw and Muncie trannys, and I've seen units that look like they have an integrated bell housing. If this IS an integrated bell housing unit, is there an adapter that will allow me to adapt the S-10 tranny to a V-8, as would be needed if swapping a V-8 into an S-10 without changing the trans? I could use the same adapter to adapt the S-10 trans for use in my son's El Camino. I'm looking at this option, because everyone seems to think the T-5 and T-56 is made of GOLD and want over a grand for a tranny with over 150K miles on it. Mike can't afford to pay that for a tranny that's only going to live in the car for a couple of years. I'm installing an LS-7 and 4L60E in the car for his graduation present, so I only need to give the kid a little better mileage with the overdrive gear at a price HE can afford to pay. Any help would be appreciated. And yes, I could afford to buy a new 5 spd., 6 spd., or a Gear Vendors Over/Under Drive unit. But that isn't the point. I'M not buying the transmission. My son is, and he's a struggling college student. And it wouldn't teach him anything if Daddy came to the rescue any time he needed or wanted anything. I'll help him research it, and I'll help him install it. I gave him the car, and I pay his insurance. The rest is up to him. So we appreciate any help you can give us on making this happen for him.
1 AnswerChevrolet1 decade agoPremier 0bama's "Change" bumper sticker...where can I get one?

I'll keep my freedom, money and guns. You keep the "change".

4 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoHow do you replace the lower unit on a 40 hp Evinrude Lark III?
We have an antique speed boat with a modified 40hp Evinrude Lark III outboard engine. Recently, we exploded the transfer gears on the prop shaft and bent the shift fork and blew holes in the foot from inside out. I was able to score a perfect lower unit on Ebay, complete with oil transfer tubes input shaft, shifter rod...The comlete assembly. But even though I am a mechanic, I'm not a BOAT mechanic, and I have never attempted anything of this nature on this type of engine, and do not own a repair/service manual for it. Does anyone out there have knowledge of the exact, step by step proceedure for this replacement? And if you actually own a manual, and could possibly scan the pages covering this proceedure and e-mail them to LesPaul681@yahoo.com then that would be PERFECT. Thanks to the entire Yahoo Answers community in advance for you help. In the past, I've helped guys change engines and transmissions in their cars, and replace head gaskets and timing chains. I figure if I can do that, then surely someone can help me with this project, and maybe my wife and I can complete it this weekend and get the boat back on the lake before Alcoa drains it for the winter.

Paul
1 AnswerBoats & Boating1 decade agoWhat has Obama Done EVER, to demonstrate his leadership ability?
I saw and read Obama's remarks about Pallin's being a Mayor of a Small Town, and her being the Governor of Alaska. (I guess he would only be President of 49 states, and let Canada rule Alaska and it's TRILLIONS in oil revenues. Anyway. He made those remarks. My question is what has he EVER done to demonstrate his ability to be a LEADER? Has he ever been the leader on a platoon level? Has he ever been mayor of a small town? Has he ever been the Governor of ANY state? Has he ever built a business out of nothing and made it a success? Has he EVER DONE ANYTHING, EVER, to prove himself even remotely qualified to lead anything? Did he ever make Eagle Scout? Can he even lead a Scout Troop? A Cub Scout Troop? Has he ever been a member of the Demolay? Was the President of his Jr. High school, or High School? Did he LEAD a TEAM to victory, in ANY sport at all? Did he lead a team to victory in the Quiz Bowl? Or his High Schools Debate Team? Did he lead them? Has he ever LED anything at ALL? Has he ever led a group into prayer to Christ? Has he ever led a unit into battle? Has he ever led a REAL community effort to make any kind of change on a local level? Has he ever LED a CHANGE to the corruption in his home town political arena? If he has EVER demonstrated the ability to LEAD, ANYTHING...Let alone a NATION, I'd be honestly interested in knowing exactly what it was, and where you got your information.Obama.Great at criticism. Not so great at anything else.
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoDOES executive experience, or GENERAL experience matter?
Forgive the length of this question, but I want to make sure everyone understands the question. I'd also like to know not just WHO you'd hire, but WHY. JUSTIFY you answer, please.
Picture this. You're building a 7,500 sq.ft. custom home. It is going to cost you 1/2 a MILLION dollars, and is going to house your entire home. You and your spouse, your children and grandchildren, and has a pair of 2,500 sq.ft. inlaw suites for yours and your spouse's parents. AND, don't forget the family pet. Now, after weeding through the chaff, you have whittled down your choices for a home builder down to two choices. One, is an old guy, who's been in business for 40 years. The other is a relative newcomer, who is young, hip, inspiring, and has a lot of really novel ideas for decorations and a flair for design. The old guy, is surrounded by a staff of loyal supporters who have helped him build fine homes for royalty and dignitaries the world over, is one of the world's most celebrated designers and archetects, and has established one of the world's most highly respected construction companies, utilizing time proven techniques combined with groundbreaking new technologies. While the other guy, though younger, with a definate flare for the dramaitc, with grand, sweeping entrances and can draw a really pretty picture, only has experience in hiring a couple decent crews for assembling some decks, playground equipment, and has organized the construction of a few habitat for humanity houses. Since graduating college with a degree in something or other, with a minor in construction engineering, he's not even built a deck onto his own house with his own tools and knowledge. Yet the old guy, has not only built magnificient homes for decades, he has gone into urban areas and saved condemned buildings, built multi cultural and multi ethnic housing and gathering places, and has worked with a group of fine craftsmen to save buildings that were on the verge of falling, full of people, showing great heroic prowess and the ability to operate under the highest degree of stress imaginable. While it can be said that either man is competent for the job, it can also be said that one has earned the right to do the job, and proven his ability through experience and hands on knowledge of the job at hand. And the other guy, while he may posess the knowledge to do the job, may not, because he is a virtual unknown entity, with questionable knowledge and experience, because he hasn't HAD the experience and hasn't had the opportunities to prove himself in this arena. And while I'd not take away his education or his desire and drive, nor would I just overlook his design ideas out of hand, I WOULD greatly suspect his abilities to actually oversee a project of this magnitude. After all, my ENTIRE extended family is going to reside in this home, and I intend to leave it to my heirs one day. I know which guy I'm going to hire for the job already. Which guy would YOU hire for the job if you had it to do? Because people, you DO have the job to do, and the responsibility to hire the right guy. You had better get it right. You have to live in that house. So tell me....Who are you going to hire? The flashy new guy with a lot of un-proven ideas, or the experienced hero in the field, who while traditional, uses leading edge technology to give the house the best that there is to give. Not to mention, the old guy has recently hired the best interior decorator on the PLANET to complement him, while the young guy, for all of his forward thinking, recently hired an old fashioned decorator who hasn't had an original idea since the 1970's, and decorates in the style of 1970-80's Soviet bloc. Who would you hire for this job???
7 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs it possible for Hussein Obama to ascend to the Presidency by attrition as he did the Senate?
Is it even remotely possible, given the laws of the state, that after McCain accepts the Republican nomination, is it conceivable, that the communist (sic Democratic) party can find some loophole to have his name removed from the ballot, leaving ONLY Hussein Obama's name, as happened during his Senatorial campaign? It IS a fact, that he wasn't elected to his position, but had every other name on the ballot removed due to loopholes and technicalities. If it is possible to do it in a Senatorial campaign, is it possible to do it in a Presidential campaign as well?
10 AnswersElections1 decade agoI just read a question about the amount of taxes paid by Exxon. How about the taxes on BIO-FUELS?Did you know?
I recently bought a machine for the conversion of used, clear vegetable oil to bio-diesel. But did you know that I'm responsible for paying the TAXES on the fuel that I MAKE? I have to pay the state highway use taxes on each gallon, and the federal gasoline tax on each gallon, in order to not be violating the law. Seems a littel like double taxation to me, adn therefore illegal, and I refuse to pay this. But did you know if you make your own fuel you are SUPPOSED to pay taxes on it? I paid taxes on the conversion chemicals, and the restaurant paid taxes on the purchase of the oil. To have me pay taxes on their combination is double taxation, and is prohibited by the Constitution. But there was a notice with the machine that had a warning to that effect from the federal government. Just another example of Liberal Democrats and the Big Government putting their fingers in everything. My car will run on moonshine. If I make corn liquor should I have to pay taxes on liquor AND gas too?
6 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoHas anyone else considered just up and leaving the U.S.?
After spending my entire adult life serving this country in one capacity or another, I simply cannot stomach the thought of living in a nation full of citizens uneducated enough and naive enough to believe that Hussein Obama has any of the answers. I've always told people one of the greatest things about this country, is if you don;t like it, you're free to leave. Thank God that's still the case. I believe I'll take my own advice. Somewhere between the day the U.S. citizenship elects this powerless clown and his rose colored ideology, and the day he takes office. I never thought I'd renounce my citizenship, but I expect I could do a lot better as a Canadian. Mexico, move on in!!! Take the jobs and the welfare and education money and healthcare and everything else that this country has to offer to you. At least it has something to offer to someone. I'm gonna go be a Canadian, or a Cuban. But I spent too much of my life fighting communism to live in a nation of the New Communist Party!

The man violated the law. MULTIPLE laws. AND he was also admittedly gambling on these dog fights as well. Which is another topic I'll touch on. But he violated NFL by-laws, and his contract by doing all of these things. By breaking the law, and gambling on the fights, he put himself ina position where he could be blackmailed or otherwise coerced into throwing games, modifying points spreads, etc... And don't even say he had enough integrity he would never have done such a thing. We already know all we need to know about the man's integrity. Or lack of. When Pete Rose, (A WHITE MAN) violated the same section or clause in his contract, he was banned from the game of baseball for LIFE. Why should Michael Vick be treated any other way?So no racial B.S. about a rich colored man in Ga. being discriminated against. He isn't.

I have a fountain in my side yard garden that some local kids dumped soap into. I found plastic cups filled with liquid dish detergent and laundry soap powder. It's in the filter and pump and everything. And it's a LARGE fountain. To empty it and clean everything out would be time consuming and labor intensive. Does anyone know of any product that will rid me of the 6 inches of soap suds floating in my fountain? BIG THANKS to anyone who can help me.

I am as guilty as the next guy, probably more so, of being a very outspoken advocate for immigration, but against illegal immigration. I received an email from my mother today, and it only included this site. No note or anything. So I HAD to see what it was she so obviously wanted me to see. I went, and read every word, and realized that after all of my posturing, and all of my financial losses due to the illegal immigration problem (And we're speaking well over 6 figures here, people), I am still one of the most priveledged people on the face of the Earth, and anyone lucky enough to read this post, can probably join me in rejoicing in that fact. I wish to change no one's opinion. I only wish you to go to this site, read this, and take a second to thank your God that you were able to do so, and maybe come away just a little humbled from the experience. Those in here that know me, know I don't humble easily.

8 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits2 decades agoHeatherdale69 asked a simple question about why blacks get special treatment, and it not be considered racism.
It took Yahoo exactly 14 minutes to remove it. Is affirmative action such a politically incorrect topic that we now have to be reverted to 1980's soviet standards and be censored from even discussing legitimate negative issues associated with the policy? Can someone not question the legitimacy of institutions like the NAACP, the BET, and the Traditionally Black Colleges and University System with the United ***** College Fund? Why are these things allowed when they would be ILLEGAL for the caucasian race to initiate the same?

Okay guys, all of you who thought I should let those 3 boys out of jail that trashed our shop last week, here's something new for you to chew on. Does this change your mind, or should it change mine?
Last night, some fellow gang members of the ones who trashed my shop last week, came to my HOME, and totalled my wife's custom El Camino. Right out in the driveway. No fear. Well, they were scared of the bigass shotgun blasts in their direction, but nonetheless... They wanted to intimidate me into letting their compatriots' bonds be reduced so they could be bailed out of jail. I'm assuming to continue with, or begin another crime spree. So you tell me...Should I be a scared little girly man and let these guys go, or stick to my guns? I know what I'm going to do. I'm going to stick to the plan and prosecute them, and shoot anyone else who so much as makes the dogs bark. But what do you bleeding heart liberals think I should do about it. Who are we going to lay the blame on this time?
15 AnswersImmigration2 decades agoWho wants to bail them out?
Some little Mexican gangbangers broke into our custom shop last week and did about $70,000 in damage to our show cars, and to our customers' cars with their vandlism. They spraypainted the cars, broke out all the glass, and punctured all of the tires. But our video surveilance caught them on tape, and all 3 of them were arrested. The poor little boys' attorney called me today, asking that I appear in court to support their bail reduction, because they cannot afford bail, and their parents cannot afford bail. And he would like for me to consider dropping the charges, because everyone is afraid the boys and their families (all here illegally) will be deported if these kids are convicted of a crime. He suggests I let these juvenile delinquents work in my shop at a REDUCED salary till they make restitution. He wants me to let them out of jail, AND>>>>GIVE THEM JOBS!!!!<<<<< Who of you would do such a thing, and why? ME? I'm gonna let them sit in jail. Where they belong.

The question is WHY? WHY is everything great that this country is supposed to stand for now nothing less than a sad joke? It truly saddens me that the only people who can peacfully protest in the MILLIONS, is a group of people who are breaking the law simply by being here. WHY? And why is it that the bleeding heart liberals would rather lay blame on government rather than the individuals truly responsible for any of society's plights? And their voices offer no viable alternatives, only a quick and biting wit, and fast ball insults.
