Why don't most people know about the religion they profess to follow?

I base this question on this survey.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! for asking this question!

My spirit is troubled because of the wishy-washiness of many. When the questions are dripping like honey, the questions are answered with more honey. WHEN the truth is stated, most shy away from that.

I've been watching John Macarthur's Lesson on The Dangers of Pragmatism and I can bet there have been very few if any who have watched. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvialpgl9Jg

I consider Gandhi's quote: "I like your Christ, Not Christians, they are so unlike your Christ."

Perhaps we are changed and have been growing in the faith, but we are so easily pulled away from the truths we first heard and led away to a different gospel.

In no way, shape or form do I agree with Gandhi's teachings, but he HAS got a point. WE NEED to get back to the truths about the Bible and live them out as if we truly believed them. No WISHY washy gospels, no compromising, nothing. Jesus didn't mince His words, He meant what He said and said what He meant.

I love fellow believers, but it breaks my heart when I see answers that are wishy washy in nature and meant to please the ego and not Christ.

Having been raised Catholic, I can tell you I wasn't surprised in the least. Very few of the Catholics I know can tell you any more than the absolute basics about the religious holy days and even fewer have ever read any significant part of the Bible.

It's easier to take the pastor or priests word for it than to seek it out through the Holy Spirit, pray about it and let Christ show you the Truth in His time. Many so called Christians still haven't had their hearts changed enough to Trust God and His word alone to teach them.

The Nike slogan says it all about modern mentality: "Image is EVERYTHING!". Even our social roles are now just a matter of pretending to be someone or some thing.

Source(s): George I. Gurdjieff, Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson. The narrator of that long story put the words "Man" and "human beings" always in quotation marks.

Very interesting, but if I know my Lord Jesus Christ and His Commands and search the Scriptures that He Commanded us to do, then I don't need to know about any Mormon,Protestant,Catholic, Heresy in the world, for The Old & New Testament are the Beginning of Christ and all the branches came from Heretics such as Martin Luther and Popes and etc. There is only One Teacher and that is Jesus!

So my answer is, if I know what I believe in then I can answer any question about all these heresies as long as you know what you believe in! In many occasions I have encountered heretics(mormons, protestants, etc) and when they confronted me, I answered to them through the Bible. They may believe in Jesus, but not as He wants us to but as it is convenient to them and their life.

    God Bless

"Why don't most people know about the religion they profess to follow?"

Because they don't really follow it. Nor even really belong to it.

The majority of people are only interested in learning the things necessary to justify to themselves the beliefs that they have been taught.

The same reason they don't understand economics, history or civics, making them easy prey for slick politicians - laziness and stupidity.

Because they are content to be told by others what to believe and are too intellectually lazy to explore it for themselves. Because of this they have no depth of knowledge, only a vague impression of what they think they are supposed to believe.
