How accurate are ultrasound measurements?

Hi mommys and mommy to be :) I went for a check up on tues and I measured at 22weeks and all is well with my little angel. I have a concern with her weight as the ultrasound said she is 499grams already but that is supposed to be at 23 weeks. My concern is that I am supplementing with Omega 3 which is good for her brain development but am worried she might become a big baby and am planning on a completely natural birth...Does omega 3 make the baby fat?

Ultrasounds later on in the pregnancy are usually off by a week or 2. The doctors go by the measurement they got at the first ultrasound because the earlier the ultrasound, the more accurate. I just had an ultrasound last Wednesday and my baby was measuring at 18 weeks and I was only 17 weeks. But they still go by the first ultrasound even if your baby measures differently later on. Omega 3 is great for your baby, but it won't make her fat or anything don't worry. I think I'm gonna have a big girl... the ultrasound said "look she's a little fatty!" Haha. But the omega 3 won't make her too fat where it will be impossible to have a completely natural birth. Just keep yourself and baby healthy & everything will be ok :) Congrats!

Im not sure if Omega 3 makes your baby fat or not but a week ahead isnt babd b/c a ultrasound can be a lb short or a lb more than your baby actually is but even if it is accurate a week is nothing to be concerned about..My baby is 2 1/2 weeks bigger measuring in the 90 growth percentile and in my case they still arent worried she's just goin to be a bigger baby and but I have more of a chance of being induced and not going over...You and your baby will bejust fine CONGRADS on your baby and GOOD LUCK!!!!! Just make sure its okay with your OBGYN that you are supplementing viatmins...

Hi, usually, the ulrasound is accurate.

I would stop the Omega 3 supplements.

You don't need to take them now.

Just take a good pregnancy vitamin. Which will have everything in that you need.

Usually, the last 4 weeks of pregnancy, is when the baby puts weight on.

being 22 weeks and having a baby the size of 23 weeks is really not that bad that happens to alot of little ones, sometimes they are under too...I would talk to your doctor about the omega 3...But I dont think that its a bad thing..its in alot of our food
