Do atheists still believe Ida is an ancestor of man?
I never believed it to begin with.
One answer has it: Yeh who the hell is Ida? I don't blindly believe anything so you know. I learn things through facts and evidence.
And another: Who?
I don't.
That's more like the biblical eve story than what any atheist I've ever talked to believed in.

*EDIT*
The fossil, nicknamed "Ida", was discovered in 1983 but the scientific paper describing it has only just been published amid great secrecy to coincide with the commercial launch of a popular science book and a television documentary. The creature in question has been named Darwinius masillae in honour of Charles Darwin and it lived 47 million years ago.
I won't believe it until it is proven, like everything else I believe

Firstly, atheism and evolution are not the same thing. Its perfectly possible to be a Christian and still accept evolution. In fact its pretty retarded NOT to accept evolution since the evidence is so ridiculously strong.
And yes. Ida was a member of a species that lived long ago, which evolved eventually into man (via a number of other distinct species)

No, Ida is a crazy person who used to cause a LOT of drama in my social circle. So glad I am not friends with her any more.

I'm afraid I do not know enough about Ida to make that call.
Question to you:
Why are you asking atheists instead of scientists?
Do you think all atheists are evolutionary biologists?
Do you think atheism is dependent on evolution?

Translation; I dismissed the science a priori, without study, from the beginning because it doesn't support my nonsensical creation myth.

Who?
You mean Darwinius?
Sorry I'm not experienced enough in the field to say either way.
