dfficulty in removing and installing 36 inch bulbs in a very old florescent fixture?
live in a very high corrosive area and seems like the mounting ends must be corroded down inside , out of sight.... the connections appear very clean and new to look at but i thought i was going to beak the old bulb when trying to remove it... the mounting fixture is probably 35 to 40 years old and has a black or dark round button appearing thing that you slide the end pins through.. can i safley lubricate these ends (elect. off) ? if so, with what? please don't ask me to install new ends as the fixture is very hard to get to: especially for an 83 year old.... no comedy please and thanks for the help

Go to your hardware or building supply store and ask for some dielectric grease. It is compounded especially for situations such as yours. Use it sparingly because it is non conductive and if you use too much it will not squeeze out from between the contact points of bulbs and sockets. It will help keep them clean and prevent further corrosion though.
