which came first, Myspace or Facebook?

I ran into Myspace first and really wasn't interested in Facebook when discovered it because it seemed so dull and assumed people felt the same way... (this was few years back BTW)

was Myspace ever more popular than Facebook is now

Facebook came first, but like that girl mentioned, it wasn't really used publiclly until 2004 around there...by then lots of people had myspace :)

ok, this is from wikipedia (so it might not be perfect)

"On February 4, 2004, Zuckerberg launched "Thefacebook", originally located at thefacebook.com"

"decided to mimic the more popular features of the social networking website, in August 2003. Within 10 days, the first version of MySpace"

so basically myspace came first then facebook was released a year later (though at the time it was only for university students at certain universities

as for what was more popular

"MySpace was overtaken internationally by its main competitor, Facebook, in April 2008, based on monthly unique visitors"

    MySpace was launched in 2003.

    Facebook in 2004.

HOWEVER, Myspace was more popular because it was open to everyone. When Facebook first launched, it was known as "TheFaceBook" (which is why thefacebook.com redirects to facebook.com) and was at first only open to Ivy League college students, then all college students, then college + high school students, THEN everyone over 13 finally.

Myspace was really the only thing of its kind back in the day. Then Facebook emerged once Myspace was getting old, and the people tired of flashy annoying layouts, bratty teenage girls, and the negative reputation media gave it, moved to Facebook.
