Is America going politically nuts?
I'm 59 years old, went through the anti war protests, saw how that divided the country, but the people, by and large still believed in our system our way of life.
Today I see a lot of hate, pointing fingers and blame and very short on solutions. I see a lot of people so disenfranchised that they are willing to throw out the baby with the bathwater and start all over again.
I see a country that went from optimism to pessimism.
I see a country that has lost it's goals and is now rudderless.
I see a country that is so divided ideologically that it is going to take a long time for America to get back to it's roots, it's belief in itself, it's leadership for all the good it does in this world.
Are we going politically nuts, or is it just me?

It seems to me that started before the dems when the GOP orchestrated and almost pulled off getting Clinton thrown out of office. I remember it being pretty nuts back then. That is when I realized the GOP had been taken over by a bunch of right wing ideologues. The left then did in kind.
I hate partisan politics.

Cycles, Jim, Cycles. Be patient but active.
Whatever your party, do the following:
1) Vote for the most ethical people you can find, whether they will win or not.
2) Vote for the least socialist people you can find, as no socialist EVER wants a capitalist nation to succeed and every vote they make will be to tear it down.
3) NEVER vote for a black President; or Asian President; or white President; or male President; or female President. However, if they are trying to be a President and they HAPPEN to be any of those things or other things, feel free to vote for them. A President who can't represent everyone has no place in that position.
4) Vote for someone who has never made excuses for unethical behavior.
5) Always speak up against political bigotry (name-calling, spreading unfounded rumors, slander, libel, etc.) REGARDLESS OF WHAT PARTY DOES IT.
6) Protect your freedoms and the freedoms of others, especially free speech and freedom of the press.
Respects, from a sane democrat who loves his country and Constitution. There are a lot of us, just as there are a lot of patriotic republicans as well.

Politically divided yes.
The left spent 8 years bashing Bush from 2000 to 2008 and caused alot of animosity
Everything happening right now is a direct cause of that aggressiveness

It's more that a sleeping giant has been awakened, and it is very angry at what it sees.
And I think we have become more politically engaged, rather than your idea of us having gone more politically "nuts".
However, I will contend that it is completely "nuts" to bash a President day and night for eight years and then claim when your party's guy wins that he should not be criticized one iota.

our American home was clean till you came and kids still respected the President's name and the eagle still flew in the sky, hearts filled with American pride...keep your chin up
