Weird question but...I heard the color of your snot could be some type of indicator?
This may be weird and it may not be true but, I've heard somewhere that the color of your snot could be some type of indicator if your sick or not. Like I think they said if it's clear you just have allergies if it's yellow your getting sick, if it's green you're sick. Sorry if this is gross but I wanna know if this is true or not. Thanks!

sometimes the color of snot can indicate the presence of infection, but not always. bacterial infections frequently cause yellow to green colored snot. But viruses usually create clear snot. Usually. But not always. Colored snot can also come from congestion, dust and irritation.

it's not necessarily exactly clear/yellow/green = whatever, but yes, the color of the snot is an indicator as to the health of a person. you can have a cold and have normal-colored snot, though, because it's a virus. Bacterial infections and sometimes irritation and stuff can cause yellow/green or not-normal-looking snot, too.

Studies have shown no consistent correlation between mucus color and people who actually have a sinus infection. There is a strong correlation between mucus color and people who think they have a sinus infection.
