Listen to some of Annette's songs, like Tall Paul. Yes, we were what our current selves would call corny.
How easy life was depended on who you were back then, much like today. It was easy for the wealthy, but if you were a black woman in the US in the 50s, "easy" probably wasn't even a distant dream. I was lucky - we weren't what you'd call well-off, but all I ever lacked for was things I didn't really need. Never went hungry, never lacked hot water or a roof over my head, always had nice clothing.

40'sand 50's saw some hard times but they had the good sense to like entertainment light and happy. Today too many people sit on their butts all day and listen to filthy degrading lyrics and debauchery on film.

Corny is in the eye of the ear.........so to speak.
I loved those years. Anybody can say whatever they want but I agree with john g and okay okay. Sure I worked my tail off but work is just work. Peer pressure and fitting in? Who cares. I lived life and enjoyed every minute.

Golden age wasn't corny. Been looking at 55 and 57 CHevy's all day on craigslist. Wish I was born earlier. Simpler time, more freedom! Fast cars and innocent girls!

Love listening to the golden age music, at least we did not have swear words.
Never said turtle dove to anyone

I loved those years, loved most of the songs. Very few were edgy, but most still had a story, still many folk songs, great tunes! My mother told me, "don't wish your life away". In a way I guess I did, and the joy of the past is a memory!

I never heard that before, so it was a treat. Thanks for posting. Loved Bobby Darin. My husband never calls me any pet names, except when he writes me a note in the mornings, I'm always his "sweetheart".
