Why is it advantageous for an organism to have many smaller cells instead of fewer larger ones?

A. Large cells have a low surface area to volume ratio which allows for faster material exchange

B. Small cells have a low surface area to volume ratio which limits material exchange

C. Smaller cells have a higher surface area to volume ratio which allows faster material exchange.

D. The larger the cell the more surface area is present for exchange of materials

    a.), and d.) are saying that a few large cells is preferable, while b.) is saying that small cells have a disadvantage. c.) is the only one that is saying why it is advantageous for a cell to have many smaller cells instead of fewer larger ones.

    Read the textbook or common sense next time.

    No, they have variety of the comparable length of cells. it incredibly is the variety of cells that differs. that's their genetic makeup that makes them greater advantageous or smaller at person length. Eg a sprint one elephant will advance in to important person elephant whilst an ant nymph will under no circumstances become an person elephant.
