When pigs fly......................................................?

People say "when pigs fly"... (meaning something is impossible) BUT is that really an impossibility??

If you didn't take it literally pigs DO fly... if you put one in a crate and put the crate on an aeroplane the pig wound in actual fact be flying!

Do you take things literally or metaphorically?

When I want to challenge a person to senseless debate, I will take it literally.

When I want to understand things better, I will take it metaphorically.

The English version is "pigs might fly". It comes from an old English saying "pigs fly in the air with their tails forward" - indicating that you shouldn't believe everything you are told. Is that a police helicopter overhead?

Thanks for the smile, I like your literal translation.....crate and plane, lol.

(this has nothing to do with anything but you should "youtube" Pigs on the Wing by Pink Floyd)

It's a way of telling someone "NO" as in

"That will never happen, until hell freezes over." <}:-})
