Hi! asked in Beauty & StyleHair · 1 decade ago

Back to blonde. Manic Panic Bleach?

I've been dying my hair black for 3 years. just a simple top up of the roots every now and again.

I used to dye it all the time, so it became really brittle. and its in excellent condition once again.

so, im thinking of going back to my natural colour, blonde.

How would i do this, ive heard of manic panic flash lightning bleach, and only good reviews, i cant afford the hairdressers, because i know it will cost a lot of money and to get the black stripped out it will take several months. and its just too much hassle.

SO, how would i go about lifting it back to blonde...? just manic panic and toner..?

or something else im missing..?

If you want a nice blonce you're going to have to be patient and you're going to have to pay a good price. I can tell you right now what will happen when you use the box dye. The blonde will be a brassy copper blonde. You can try and tone it but it honestly won't do much of a difference. If you want a nicer lighter blonde you will need to start off dying it a dark blonde and then going from there. Your hair will be damaged a lot from this so make sure you are using hair treatmant masks and moisture shampoo's and conditioners. MOISTURE is important !! The number one mistake people make when they try to go blonde is assuming that it will happen overnight and that your hair won't be that damaged. You are bleaching your hair, it is drying it out and damaging it. You need to start off with a darker blonde and then gradually lightening that to the blonde you would like.

i've heard of manic panic too. i've used their toners.

i would not recommend you doing this yourself AT ALL. specially since you already said your hair was horrible before and just now got it back to being good.

my cousin has the same issue as you and the truth is black hair WILL take along time to 'come out' of your hair 100% if you're going blonde. yes you will have to strip your hair and then put dye in it.

or as the other person said toners. but toners can have negative effects like... giving you pink-ish tones in your hair or purple tones.

if you're doing one color only it wont cost alot of money in salons. contrary to what you may think!

i have bleach blonde hair and i pay $50.

as opposed to when i used to highlight it and pay almost $200.

    ;) see.

    see a pro.

you will need to bleach it first.

    then use toner....

bleaching it will remove the black and lighten your hair.... and the toner will remove the yellow-ness

the lightning kit should be good because it will already be measured out... plus its a really good brand (lol i had blue hair)

if your hair is still not at a colour you like, then maybe a blonde dye will help...

    otherwise good luck!
