Am I leaking amniontic fluid help please?
This is my second child. I am 40 weeks today or on my 40th week. With my first child I went into labor with the bloody show and contractions but my water had to be broken before delivery.
Since yesterday I have had small trickles of liquid. Its enough to make me change my underwear. I have read about the smell and it smells sweet almost. Not the same consistancy of normal dishcarge I have been having. Def more liquidy as I woke up yesterday and had to change my underpants. No contractions or any other symtpoms. Is it possible to have a small hind water leak? I am going to call my doctor today and would appeciate any imput from woman who have had leaks or exp with this before. Thanks

Yes, this definitely sounds like amniotic fluid. If it smells sweet and not like urine, that's a sign. Call your doctor or midwife and alert them, 'cause you're likely gonna have your baby soon. Also, they might want to check you for meconium and fetal distress.

It is possible to have a small leak. I would just go into L&D, that is what your OB will tell you to do. If you are leaking they will want you to give birth within 24hours, because of the risk of infection. Nothing to worry about though. I wouldn't bother to call your OB, just head to L&D to be sure :) Sounds like it could be a small leak. Either way you will be meeting your little bundle soon!

It does sound like you are leaking amniotic fluid. Sometimes, women leak amniotic fluid rather than having it burst in one big gush.
Calling your doctor would be an excellent idea. When you go to the hospital or doctor's office, if they can confirm that you are in fact leaking amniotic fluid, you will be admitted and most likely have labor induced.

CALL the doctor.
We can not help you here.
Yes it can be normal but it needs to be monitored, if you are losing fluid then it is possible for germs to get in.
The doc can say if you should wait or if action is needed.
