Computer/ printer compatibility issue?

I have a Toshiba L455D-S5976 Laptop that I need to temporarily hook up to a Dell 720 printer via USB, for some reason it is not recocnizing the USB as being connected. I have changed the cord to other sites and same message... no communication.. I 'm thinking it may be a compatibility issue, and not really a USB communication issue. I've updated drivers on my computer for printer USB, but you cannot roll back, which I would never want anyway.... Help!? Please?

Hmm. "I've updated drivers on my computer for printer USB". Does that mean you've gone to Dell's site, downloaded and installed the Dell 720 usb drivers?

If not, here's the link to do so: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download...

Is the printer powered on? If windows isn't making a connection noise when you plug the USB cable in, that's not a good sign. Do you have another printer USB cable you can try? (maybe the cable's bad?)

You should have the driver installed first, then connect it. If there's no indication that Windows has seen a new device, then either the printer, the cable or your usb port is faulty.

    Best of luck!!
