Are you the only Child? If so, did you grow up lonely?
I have a 21 month old son - and husband and parents are pressuring me to have a second child. I DON"T WANT ANOTHER ONE.. I love my son to death, but I don't want another one. What was your experience like growing up as the only child?

I grew up as an only child, and to be honest it was a bit lonely at times. Of course, that may have been my personality, because I always tended to keep to myself anyway, but I remember asking my mom for a little brother or sister a lot, especially once I started going to elementary school. But I knew some kids who didn't have brothers or sisters and never felt like they were missing anything, too. So I guess it depends on your son's personality whether it will bother him or not.

I think it's one of those 'grass is always greener' situations. I personally never felt lonely growing up as an only child because I lived in a neighborhood with lots of kids, but now in my adult life I sometimes wonder what that sibling relationship feels like. My fiance is one of four kids (he has a younger brother, and older sister, and a twin sister) and they are all really close to one another. I am a bit envious of their relationship at times, but I know plenty of others who grew up with siblings and wish they were only children. In general, though, I had a great childhood and wouldn't change it.

I didn't feel lonely because being a kid I'd play with anyone, I had lot's of friends. I feel much lonely now, sometimes when times are tough I wish I'd have a sibling whom I can call, I don't feel close to anyone except my mother. Friends are friends but family is something much closer.
