Can I delete things from an ipod?

I'm trying to buy a used iPod on Ebay. Can I erase the stuff (Songs, pictures, videos, etc.) that's already on it?

    Once you sync it all content will be replaced with what's on your itunes library. You can count on the ipod already being empty anyway unless the person selling it is like ultra ultra liberal and really just doesn't give a f*ck about anything.
