How could god prove his existence?

Atheists and agnostics do not believe in a god because there is no proof that he exists (and much proof that the creation of earth is not how it is depicted in the bible).

If god really did exist and wanted to show himself, how could he possible do so in a way that would convince skeptics?

Simple miracles wouldn't suffice since, as Arthur C Clark said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." A miraculous demonstration could simply be an advanced alien race showing off their technology.

Update:

Sorry, I guess I should have said: I'm not looking for faith-based answers, what kind of hard evidence could there possibly be to prove that there is a god?

    Surprise me.

I mean, shouldn't he be able to figure it out?

Plus wouldn't believing/knowing there was a superpowerful god like possibly god alien and praising it be enough? Do you have evidence for one of them?

Well, should you outline the universe as (a pantheistic) God, why hassle including the further phrase? Neither Einstein nor his discoveries gave any proof of any god. Your phrase video games do not create any proof both. Just due to the fact that topic and vigor can also be interchanged does not make any god truly. For countless numbers of years, men and women have stated that their gods had been in the back of what they did not realise -- lifestyles, lightning, stars, earthquakes, the beginning of lifestyles, the sector or the universe, and so on. Positing a god to supposedly reply a query solves not anything. It simply provides an unwarranted stage of complexity and forestalls you from asking extra questions. "It was once, of direction, a lie what you learn approximately my devout convictions, a lie that is being systematically repeated. I don't think in a individual God and I have by no means denied this however have expressed it certainly. If some thing is in me which can also be referred to as devout then it's the unbounded admiration for the constitution of the sector as far as our technology can screen it." — Albert Einstein, 1954, Albert Einstein: The Human Side

Well, science can't prove the beginning of life also. The issue is that no one knows how life came to be. The determining factor is what you choose to believe. A person could believe the entire big bang theory, the spontaneous generation, evolution, or the creation via God's words. As science advances, more people are disbelieving God and looking for more logical, scientific answer for the creation of life. Many christian believe that the Earth was created 10,000 years ago, but scientists argue by using fossils and geological evidence to disprove the belief. My thought is, why can't science and religion co-exist. In the book of Genesis, God created the universe in 7 days, but a day for God doesn't equal to our perception of a day. It could mean a day, a year, or even millions of years. Why is that God couldn't have spawned the big bang, create us through evolution.

If you're looking for hard evidence of God, you're in for a loss. Also, God can't show himself because he's too Holy and can't look at sin for it is an abomination to him.

    I thought he was omnipotent.

How about writing out his key religious texts in 50 ft high words of eternal and unburnig fire across the major mountain range of each continent in words that are understandable in any language.

That would be quite sufficient evidence for me. There might be a couple of die-hard atheists left but 99.99% of the globe would believe that God was real.

Then we would still have free will to chose whether to actually worship him or not.

I am an Atheist and can't think of anything he could do that would convince me of his existence, except maybe if he gave me all of the mental powers described in stories: levitation, teleportation, creation "out of this air", granting wishes, etc., then MAYBE.

If he could prove something here in R@S, without dispute . That might be a Miracle.

SFB God will come to you if you open your heart and pray and I mean it. Go to mass or service as often as you can, remember Jesus during the day and help others. I get great comfort from ( the 15 prayers of St Bridget) found on line. Once Jesus filled me with grace like rain flowing thru me! I can't describe the joy and comfort in knowing the Lord, faith is a gift!

He could perform the halftime show at the Superbowl

Source(s): "That is the whole point of faith, to believe without seeing!" Exactly why then did Jesus perform all those miracles like the fish buffet, walking on water, healing people, etc? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of belief without visual proof?

I can show proofs of God's existence, but I can't conclusively prove that He exists. On the other hand, you can't prove that He doesn't exist.
