hand foot and mouth disease?

I was informed today that my 4 year old son was exposed to Hand, Foot and Mouth disease at his school sometime in the last few days. I checked his temperature, it is currently 100 degrees. HFMD sites says that the first sign is a fever of 101-103... now I am assuming that he is coming down with it because of the 100 fever (he was sick with a cold recently and his temp never hit over 98, as he runs a steady 97.8 ish). Should I stop worrying and just check again, or does it seem like he is most likely coming down with it, considering he is up to 100 degrees today? Hopefully this makes sense.

My daughter had this when she was about 2. It is a virus. There is nothing you can really do but let it run its course. Her fever got all the way up to 103.8 and I was told if she was having wet diapers, and drinking lots of fulids, she was fine. Alternate Tylenol/IBProfin to help the fever. The blisters took about 4 or 5 days before they really started to heal. That took over 2 weeks. It is a horrible thing. It is very contagious, but just because he was exposed, does not mean he will get it. Keep checking the inside of his mouth and the soles of his feet and his palms for any blisters.
