I'm not sure that you fully grasp the complexities of natural selection and universal diversity.

Monkeys aren't failed humans. They stayed monkeys cuz it worked for them in their time and place in nature. There are monkeys on all continents but Antarctica. Some of them made a good life for themselves and their babies, while others only survived long enough to make babies IF their environment met their needs. IN the later case, the monkeys who were "oddballs" lived and made more of THEIR kind. This went on for Millenia. This process is ongoing.

Every animal and plant and person ever born in this world is different and unique from every other animal or plant or person. Even twins are subtly different from each other. All cock roaches are unique, like we are. Some have longer legs than others. Some have thinner exoskeletons than others. Many are undersized, while others are abnormally large when compared to the average cockroach. Diversity is a given. It is constant and inevitable in all living things.

A geology professor described natural selection to me in this way: There were many small white birds native to England decades ago. These birds slowly dwindled away. Eventually they were never seen again. The pollution in the air above industrialized England left the atmosphere gray looking. The white birds were easy to see and to hunt. The white birds were wiped out by this process. However, some of that species lived on. Which ones? The ones who were not quite white enough to spot from the ground. They lived long enough to reproduce babies that resembled them. You see? The environment changed. Some could survive the change, others couldn't. In areas of Africa over a million years ago, our predecessors were different enough from other apes to survive. In many other regions, the weird apes died out, cuz they couldn't adapt. Monkeys and apes were just right for the environment. And they still are, so they still exist.

I hope that made sense to you. It's a very difficult subject to understand and to explain.

I always believed that animals would evolve because they could no longer survive. Thus meaning that a new breed would be born with the tools for survival in that environment. Which indicates that apes would no longer exist because they could not survive.
