fans are sick of Johnson winning, why doesn't Nascar see that fans are not attending like they use to?

I for one, along with thousands of fans will be done with Nascar if Johnson wins again this year,

It is just not interesting anymore when one driver or team dominates that much.

I have to agree, don't know why we are fed a steady diet of 48 and like you if he would get it again this year, I am done.

My opinion about it is if someone stops watching NASCAR only because if Jimmie wins it again then they're not a true fan. Have to realize it's got to be a year that he doesn't win it, won't last forever. A true fan will watch as many races they're able to and stand behind their driver no matter what. So I don't care for the so called "fans" that stop watching NASCAR for ignorant reasons or switches drivers. I laugh at the fans that stopped because they stopped using "real cars", but to bad they stopped using actual stock cars since the 70s. I guess they don't want NASCAR to get better and better as it comes to cars. Those are also the same fans that would b*tch about it if they did stick with stock cars cause then it would seem to slow, would still have to be modified so still wouldn't be a real stock car. Only reason I understand when a fan that stops watching is if their favorite driver retires, quits or dies and they just don't want to find another driver. Any other reason is stupid and ignorant. Plus there will always be at least one driver that dominates in NASCAR.

John B - Hope you realize every multi year champion was a 1 time and 1st time champion driver until they got the 2nd. Think before you post. Just like every driver was once a rookie.

EDIT: Well I read it as winning one championship. But just so you know you can win a Championship with 0 wins if you're consistent enough, look at where Jeff Gordan is, top driver right now that has 0 wins this season and he's ahead of drivers that have won 2 or 3 races. Championship is about consistency not just wins. But my bad for just reading it wrong or well more of comprehending it the wrong way when i read it. I honestly don't care for the Chase, should jsut do normal points racing all season, that's the one that deserves it more since it's harder to win the Championship in normal points racing without the Chase BS where they reset the points to 5,000 and give 10 points for each win.

Well, with that mentality, it's clear that you're not a true fan of NASCAR anyhow. Sure, it does get old seeing the same driver win year after year, but that's not going to cause true fans of racing to give up on the sport. So, I'd have to disagree with you saying "thousands of fans will be done with NASCAR if Johnson wins again". Will NASCAR decrease in ratings? Possibly, but these aren't loyal NASCAR fans, so in a way, it's a good thing. Domination is a part of every single sport at some point or another, and it will always be that way. You deal with it and hope for changes in the future, which will eventually happen. It's part of it, my friend.

If your done with Nascar if Jimmie Johnson wins another cup this year you had better get your bags packed!

It is effecting Nascar's ratings, but other things are also having a negative effect as mentioned above. Nascar had a cycle similar to this with Jeff Gordon years ago until the team dynamics changed ( Evernham left Hendrick). It just seems like this cycle is longer. I don't like it either, but I won't give up on the whole sport because of it. At some point things will change simply because they always do. I will say I've never watched an Awards Banquet since the chase format was implemented and I do pay a lot more attention to the lower series races. Most of the time they are better races anyway!

I can sympathize... I remember, long ago, wishing that Pearson would run more often so Petty wouldn't always win. Then I became a fan of Cale's because he was filling that role. In the years BJ (Before Johnson) I was a Jeff Gordon fan because of the rare talent he displayed. So it was natural that I would take interest in this rookie that became his teammate...By the end of '02 I was a Johnson fan because I knew there were great things coming from that team.

Even if he isn't your favorite driver, you should respect the fact that at this moment in time, he and his team are the best in the sport. You are witnessing NASCAR history being made. His run won't last forever...they never do. But its been exciting and I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts...

So, "it's just not interesting when on driver or team dominates that much."

I guess it's a good thing you weren't watching when Earnhardt and Rusty Wallace were winning every race in site. Then there were the Jeff Gordon years. Let's go back a few years when Richard Petty or David Pearson won them all. Domination is nothing new to Nascar and has little to do with fan attendance. Bottom line is people are jobless, broke, and can't afford to go to a race.

Your question seems to suggest that Nascar should step in and do something about the dominance of the 48 team?? I hate what's going on as well. But if they are the best team year in year out and keep winning championships, so be it. Place your blame on the other teams not being better, not Nascar. JJ winning so much definitely hurts ratings. Nascar knows this. And the fact they have done nothing should be some reassurance to us all that the powers that be aren't rigging the sport.

I agree with buckshot in that I would rather the man I dislike win fair and square than have Nascar fix things so that he doesn't. And to be clear - I think Jimmie's domination is only a small factor in declining ratings. And the economy does not explain why tv ratings are way down as well.

John B: What was wrong with Matt's championship? He not only won it - he dominated it. He had the best season in 2003 by far. Put his season side by side any one else's season and you'll that he was a very deserving champion. And you managed to spend 600$ in one day at a race, don't cry to us it's too expensive. I go to a ton of races and I've never spent very much money. You can a great seat for about 50 bucks and you can bring your own food and beverage in. I'm way too smart to spend 9 dollars on 3 chicken fingers and a small fry... or 7 dollars for a beer. It's you people that are willing to pay that much that keep the prices high. They are going to charge whatever people are willing to spend. So don't spend it if you want the problem to go away. Buyer always determines price, not the Seller.

There are 11 other drivers who had a shot at Jimmie Johnson, but when it comes to crunch time, he is always there. I guess people got tired of the Yankees winning year after year, the Celtics winning several consecutive NBA titles, UCLA winning season after season. All these things ended eventually as will Johnson's streak, but until someone beats him he is the best. I would like to see someone else win it but I also give credit where credit is due and Johnson, right now, is the best in NASCAR. One day, maybe even in 2010, he will not be the # 1 driver and someone will beat him.

Amen to that! Jimmie is an somewhat, wonderful motive force, the PuppetMaster Chad Knaus is surprising + fantastic notch Hendricks kit & components = a in all probability 4-peat for #40 8. I admire Jimmie & the #40 8 team yet am getting slightly bored with them staying on a Chase roll. that's like the Kyle Busch juggernaut for the time of the standard season final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days: comparable old, comparable old. i replaced into hoping for an better exhibiting from first-time Chaser Brian Vickers yet am nevertheless keeping out desire for Smoke or Mark Martin to nudge Jimmie aside for the Cup.

What is he supposed to do? If they are a better team with better drivers, etc. Do you want them to stop racing? Do you want nascar to tell them to stop racing? I say let the best team win. They can't help it if the other guys SUCK. I'm not saying i want him to win all the time either, but if they as a team are better than the other guys, too bad waa, waa, waa. buncha crybabies. Ever heard of the recession? people just don't have the money right now to go to all the races. That is why attendance is down! I'd go too, but i just got laid off after 20 yrs at my job.

Jimmie Johnson is not the sole reason fans aren't attending races. I have to agree with mbl here, I don't like seeing Jimmie win all the time, but they have the best team out there. I for one would quit watching if I knew that NASCAR was trying to inhibit the best team from winning.
