What causes "Turkey Wattle" -- Weakened or Loose Neck Muscles?
I've noticed that the skin on the front of my neck looks bad. It hangs down. I am 27!!! I could only imagine what I am going to look like in a few years! Does anyone know what causes this, besides genetics (please attach link)? What can I do to make it tighter? I'm serious. This is not a joke. Thank you so much!
I didnt mean to confuse anyone. My neck's not like sagging skin. It just looks fat. Hmmm... maybe I need to lose weight. I hope that takes care of it! Wish me luck! Thank you for your answers! I really enjoyed reading the first 2. :) Very informative.

Turkey wattle is loose skin, and is more common to see in older folks than one your age. It's got nothing to do with muscles, but is the result of gravity on the birthday suit combined with the thinning of skin as one ages. While there are exercises designed to tone and tighten the muscles of the neck, they don't have much effect on the loose or extra skin. I can't give you a website that directly explains the genetics of this, but it is indeed genetic. I bet if you look at other family members you will see the same thing. The only real treatment that changes things is a "neck lift", to remove the excess skin. It generally costs less than a regular face lift would cost, and it takes about 10 days to recover from. Your only other hope would be to see a dermatologist who might have better suggestions. Sorry.

This is not muscular it is fatty or skin sourced. Too much skin can be taken care of surgically. Unwanted fat goes away with diet at your age. Loose neck muscles causes head droop not droopy skin. Kind of doesn't matter what the cause is the fix is pretty straight forward.
