Building a bike - any good forums online?
Building a bike for the first time, with very little experience. Does anyone know any good online forums where I could ask all my (probably daft) questions?
Otherwise they'll all have to go on Yahoo Answers...
Road/commute/tour/donkey - the "roads" here involve a fair bit of pretty rough ground, so I guess a "road" bike that's quite versitile. Have a nice 700c aluminium frame, but very little experience...
I have already had a bike and done basic maintenance on it, and I got a good quality frame dead cheap so I think it'll work out cheaper to build than to buy. Getting loads of components scavenged free from scrapped bikes, which helps with costs.

It will be cheaper to buy a complete bike and learn to do maintenance on that first. You will save a lot of money that way. It's hard to ask a question when you don't know what the component is.

www.cyclechat.net has some very knowledgeable peeps.
the CTC forum is also good for some stuff: www.ctc.org.uk
Also use youtube and search for specific things like "truing wheels" etc as theres loads of videos on maintenence on there!
