  • Why so many Americans on Yahoo Answers UK?

Why do I keep seeing so many questions from people who are obviously American on Yahoo Answers UK? It's annoying because lots of questions and answers depend a lot on where you are, for example there's no point me talking about A Levels to a student in the US, or giving UK helpline numbers to people outside the UK.

I can clearly see the logo for Yahoo! Answers UK & Ireland in the top left corner of my page, so I'm definitely in the right place for UK stuff ONLY, aren't I?

Wish your country location in your profile was a) compulsory and b) shown under your username.

  • Building a bike - any good forums online?

Building a bike for the first time, with very little experience. Does anyone know any good online forums where I could ask all my (probably daft) questions?

Otherwise they'll all have to go on Yahoo Answers...

  • How can I mend a bustier/corset top with bent bones?

I've bought a really nice bustier/corset type top, but the 4 "bones" in it (2 at the front and 2 at the back) are badly bent, making it sag.

I love the top so I want to just replace the bones, but I'm not sure:

    a) if this can be done as these bones are not in pockets I can slide them out of but are sewn into the top,

    b) where to buy replacement bones - can't find any on ebay.co.uk, not sure where else to look. Thinking of buying another corset top just to salvage and reuse the bones. My nearest alteration shop says they might be able to do it but I'd have to buy the bones myself, and their repairs are expensive too!

    c) Can I just straighten out the bones without removing them? That would be ideal if possible as I wouldn't have so much sewing to do.

    d) or, can I somehow sew the existing bones onto new ones on the inside of the top, so the new ones will keep the old ones straight without me having to unpick the old ones and sew the top together again first?

Please let me know if some or all of this question isn't clear!

  • When I stop smoking I start farting. WHY?

Seriously, within a day of giving up smoking I get very bloated and begin to fart much more than normal.

It's making it very difficult to quit. I'm not just gradually putting on a bit of weight because I'm eating more - it's more like I suddenly can't fit half my clothes because of bloating.

Farting all the time at work is a real problem too as I work with lots of people around me, and it's making me want to just start smoking again.

I only stopped yesterday but I remember this going on for months when I stopped last time for five months.

What's going on and what can I do about it?

  • How fast does hair grow? How much longer will my hair be in 6 weeks time?

I'm trying to grow out a haircut I didn't like, and I'm wondering how long it will be when I go to my first festival of this year.

I have fairly straight caucasian hair.

  • How to remove the "sticky" left behind from duct tape/duck tape/gaffer tape stickers?

I have a big plastic banner with metal eyelets in it for hanging, given to me from a shop that no longer used it to hang up outside. I'm working at Glastonbury Festival this year, and want to repaint it to advertise what I'm doing.

It had lots of lettering on it, and it was easy enough to just peel all the lettering off as they consisted of stickers made from something like duct tape. The only problem is that they've left lots of the "sticky" behind, i.e. the glue from the back of the stickers, which means that you can still see the original title of the shop I got it from and their phone number etc.

I want to repaint it using acrylic spray paint, so the difference in texture will really show through and spoil my banner if I can't get it off, but I have no idea how to dissolve the glue and it doesn't scrub off at all with warm soapy water and a scouring pad.

    Any suggestions, anyone?
