Do you think another unemployment benefits extension by Congress is likely?

Also, when would they vote on this?

Absolutley! There are millions of people looking for work and having little luck. The recent pools show 7 applicants to 1 job opening. I really think even if the GOP wins there will be an extension. What are 15 million people and their family's going to do without one? People adverse to this are just plain callous. I hope they get a pink slip of their own during the worst recession since the great depression. Then lets hear them yammer...

No, even CNN has said that there is a portion of people out there actually turning down jobs because they are on unemployment. Also, most people when they lose their jobs only get 26 weeks of unemployment. Even during the recession that happened after 9/11 they only extended it by I think 26 weeks. Almost two years of unemployment means that you are not looking that hard or are not willing to move to where there are jobs.

  • The Republicans have already said they will try to block another extension. But the Democrats will try when they come back from the election break in November.
